Need Paralegal for ticket ASAP!
I've got ticket I want to fight on a Charter 11B arguement (14 months from offence to trial date!) but found out today I need to file a whack of paperwork 15 days before the trial - and that deadline is in two days.
With my current workload - I can't do all the paperwork and serve notice to all the required offices. It is worth $$ to me to get this sorted - I have a clean record and want to keep it.
Who's our resident paralegal or lawyer who can file this for me for a reasonable amount - but more importantly - on time?
Thanks in advance!

My paralegal of choice is Mark Tam and Associates. He performed a "miracle" for me just serveral years ago on a speeding charge that would have me in cuffs.....but that story is for another day....
If you wish to contact him: (416)301-8998
You could mention my name and he will "remember" me Cheers.

Thanks all!
Spoke to a firm and they filed all the req,d paperwork for a fee so low I thought there was a zero missing. ; )
Now, we'll see if my defense works.
Thanks again!

LOL - yeah - this was one of those insanely helpful services that has low cost to them - but high value to me.
It was prolly 30 min of work for them - 'cause they know what to do - but it saved me all the research and effort - so it worked out well.
Of course - I still have to appear in court and get the JP to agree to my defence - but consensus is that this delay is absolutley a violation of Charter Rights and I should be free and clear.
We'll see...

What defence representative did you hire?? Any "good" paralegal will not require you to be present on the court date....that is what you paid for.

I only retained them to do the filing steps for the Charter Arguement. Probably 30 min of thier time (but it DID include them physically serving the papers to the Courthouse - so saving me a gross cross-city drive).
I chose not to retain them for the court date - since its pretty straight forward - I've done it successfully before and thier fees for that were substanial. So technically - it's NOT what I paid them for. ; )
I don't mind - okay - kinda enjoy - going to court - but the filing process needed to be done quickly and perfectly that day and I was out of time - that's all.

Update for those who might care - or find this thread later (I always appreciate it when people close up thier threads with an outcome).
Attended trial today. I was fully prepared - with all my paperwork and lots of case law citations to bolster my position.
The Crown tried to argue that I had violated the notification procedure by filing my intent to make a Charter motion EXACTLY 15 days before the trial. She said "you can't count the day you file" - which I think is bs.
Anyway - doesn't matter what I think - it's all about the JP and he asked if I was an agent or the defendent - and I made it clear I was not a representative - but was in fact the defendent in person. He said - "Well then, I grant some leeway here and accept your filing of intent", meaning he'd hear my argument. The prosecutor immediately withdrew the charges and I was free to go.
So - make sure you file your intent to make a Charter argument EARLY and have all your case law citiations ready. A charter argument is not totally simple - and you need to know the arguments behind WHY your rights were violated and what case law supports that position.
I was kinda bummed - I was looking forward to actually going to trial - I knew my stuff and was ready to cite 6 differnt rulings on several aspects of the delay - but I'm just as happy to be done with this and keep my spotless record.
Thanks for all the help - totally worked out!
