Hunter Motorsport in Toronto
Has anyone had the experience with Hunter Motorsport in Mississauga area? I've only heard about them yesterday from a new member here, it's closer for me than EU Autowerks so I wouldn't mind hearing some feedback from folks here, especially with the 996 which had been serviced and worked on by them.

Two thumbs up for Brent. He's worked on my 996 as well. I've said it before; we are so lucky here in the GTA with all the great Porsche indy's that you really can't go wrong.

Brent is a 1st class mechanic and very fair. The only problem you are likely to have is that he is very busy with expensive projects eg race builds. You are unlikely to get him to do simple basic maintenance work.

Really, really good guy. I have had only great experiences with him. Shop is very well kept and there are always some really nice cars being worked on - an added bonus when stopping by!!!

Well, I stopped by today, I do believe you guys vouching for the shop & Brent, I also saw some of the cars there etc. so he is likely a very qualified individual, however Brent stated flat out that the engine MUST be dropped on the 996 along with the transmission to change the IMS bearing or the AOS, "absolutely impossible" were the comments he made in referenece to my question if only the transmission needs to be dropped.
I did not get into any further discussion or debate being still new on the Porsche scene, however there are threads here on Rennlist where people have done IMS bearing replacement themelves by only removing the transmission without removing the engine, AOS has also been replaced by accessing through the top of the engine compartment, albeit with a great deal of effort and a lot of parts removal first.
Perhaps it is easier/quicker to remove the engine with the proper lift/hoist etc. available in a garage to perform the IMS bearing and AOS replacement, I can accept that, however the flat out "It's impossible" statement seemed to be a bit overly conclusive when the facts show otherwise.......
No worries though as I won't likely engage this venture until next year, too much stuff on the go at the moment and I'll be putting the car into storage soon.
