Default Value of a 1987 924S?

Hi Folks

A friend who is out of the country asked me to help finding out the value of a 1987 Porsche 924S. It belonged to a family member who recently died and now her mom has inherited it and would like to sell it.
I went to take a quick look at it and it looks solid with only a bit of rust discolouring the paint here and there. Underneath it also looked quite solid and had no obvious leaks.
Inside, the seats and dash were cracked (seatcovers). When I pushed the clutch, the pedal went to the floor and stayed there . (hydraulic leak?)
It's been sitting in a driveway for a few months and the brakes are rusty. It is an American car and has 91,000 miles (IIRC). The battery was dead so couldn't try starting it or seeing what works. It comes with a spare set of phone dial rims.

Here are some pictures.

So what do you think is a fair price to ask? Anybody looking for one?

These days, you can buy a pretty mint 924S for not more than $5000 so a car like the one you're looking at might be $1500 tops. These cars may be cheap to buy but parts are still pricy and the scheduled maintenance (belts/rollers/water pumps) can run almost $1000 every few years, unless you have the tools and talent to do the job yourself.

I had an '87 924S myself and can honestly say that the cars are great fun to drive and can be reliable enough to use as daily transport, but getting a diamond in the rough to that standard could make it financially unwise.

Just my $0.02.

Not to be harsh, but that looks like a $1000 car, tops. If clutch is shot, maybe less.. but it could just be a failed clutch slave which would be a little cheaper.

$1000 if it passes e-test.

E-test wouldn't be required on an '87, so that's a plus. Burl, is it a sunroof delete car?

The battery was dead and I hadn't brought my booster pack.
It supposedly ran when it was parked there several months ago. I was on a schedule and didn't have more time to look it over and try stuff.
Just because of circumstances I find myself wishing it were worth more.
