The 997 GT3 is a tremendous deal right now. A 2007 GT3 can be had for $80-95k for a nice one. That same car would have had an MSRP in Canada of ~$150k only four years ago... As a comparison, it took my 993 Turbo eight years to depreciate the same percentage...

I guess you upgrade for some bragging rights that only a seasoned professional driver could lay claim to and a nice interior. Meantime, I'm looking forward to watching 997.2 TT prices drop. It will take a while, but one shall be mine. Oh yes, it shall be mine.
SW If you do, let me know... I want dibs on the 6gt3 if you decide to let it go.

I consider the 964 a classic.

993 - classic
996 - not
997 - classic
991 - not

So it stands to reason that the 991 should be good but not great, and the 992 (or whatever it will be called) will be a home run.

If you look at the price analysis in Excellence, the air kooled cars are holding or appreciating - even the 914's - and the water kooled ones not so much. Take a look at 964 RS America prices rocketing up. I bet the rest of the 964 line RWD 964 line starts to get dragged up as well. Like Phill says there are lots of the post '98 vehicles around.

If anything I think you'll see 964 outperform 993 in time. some models already do. 964 Turbo S is a $150,000 proposition, a clean Speedster is $85,000, the aforementioned RS America is $60K for low miles, etc...

There are simply fewer of them...

To get back on topic...of course 997 prices are dropping. I expect my C2 to settle around $30K in a few years and probably hold there or just below while 996s will settle around $20K-$25K. JMHO of course...
