Default I'm ordering my lift!

All those years of staring wide-eyed into garages at the undersides of cars borne aloft have led me at last to order a lift for my new garage!

Details soon.

Congrats. Enjoy. For me, ordering it was 1/2 the battle, then there was renting a SDS drill , then renting the concrete wet saw, then the concrete truck. then another drill rental.

I've had my daily driver - 2002 Jetta - up and down on my lift multiple times this weekend.... simple brake job (pads/rotors) on a 9 yr old car driven through the salt of SW Ontario winters - not as simple as I'd hoped.

I've only used the lift one other time... oil change for my wife's CRV. Still was a bit weird going under it the 1st time this w/e, but now used to it.

Tonight, I'm trying to set the parking brake on my new reman.'d caliper.

In my case it shouldn't be as much of an ordeal. We poured the pad for this building last fall, and included footings for a lift in the position we're going to put it. You're right about ordering it being a challenge, though: finding just the right one has taken six months!

I'm hopeful that the installation will go well, but we just have a standard hammer drill. Is the SDS a requirement? Was it hard to keep the drill vertical when drilling the holes?

rent a sds drill. I have a regular MasterCraft 1/2" Hammer drill. No comparison

I drilled each 7/8" hole down thru 10-12" of concrete in about 60-90 seconds.

I got good holes on 9/10 that i drilled. one I had a bit of a wobble, and the anchor seated a bit above flush, then I ground it down.

Charlie you weren't kidding when you said you were busy building a garage around your car!

What was your address again? Kingston is not that far

This may be an interesting weekend! Per petee_c's advice, I'm going to try to locate an SDS drill.

This thing looks heavy!

Oh, yeah, it's a FORWARD DP10AN (for 10K lbs, asymmetrical, narrow). It should just allow me to park a second car beside the lift, if I get the urge. That isn't a very high priority, though.

Thanks! We have a couple of big tractors to do the lifting (the logistics of which we'll try to figure out this weekend), and then from there, we'll just have to figure out how to hook it up.

I've been shopping since last winter for a lift, but it's a bit harder to find something from Kingston than I imagine it would be if I were in Toronto, so I ended up buying a new one from old stock at ADG Forward in Vaughan. There were two more (wider ones) in the same condition left, and they come with the full warranty. Feel free to PM me for details.

I'd love to see your installation, actually.
I was able to borrow an SDS drill, and we already have a couple of bits that I dropped off for sharpening, today.

I'll be in Toronto over the weekend, so I won't get a chance to start until next weekend, but I at least have the lines marked for where I'm going to put the right column (which is closer to the centre of the floor than the left, and also the power column). As it turns out, it's going to be 2" from the outlet box that I roughed in in the ceiling for it. I may move that over a little more so I'm sure I clear the plug, but that can wait until I have the column up.
