That's handy!

I'd get the organizers to write a letter describing the event and non competitive policy of the day, and education focus, etc...

Sorry to hear, glad your father is OK.

Going from a Turbo 4wd, and the safety associated with the 4wd, to a RWD powerhouse, is quite a change in performance, driving style, car dynamics,
and Far less margin for error.

Sorry to hear this Chris.
I agree it's more fun driving against yourself. But how many GT3's can pass me in one session?

I wish the 4WD to 2WD were a factor, but he only drove the turbo at a few events. He's been driving the corvette for 3 years now, and has probably done 30 or 40 days in it, so he's very well used to the car.

2 GT3s and a GT2 out yesterday. The white and red GT3 would pass me twice in 3 of my laps...

People get stuck in the mentality that what they do during lapping days at Mosport means something. Everyday a different group is on that track and everyday people are overdriving themselves.

I used to pull off 1:35s in my streetcar NSX. I thought those were fast - I thought it mattered.

It is so easy to get caught in the moment during these days....

I'm just thankfull I made it through without ever leaving the track or busting something! Risk reward isn't there for me anymore but I sure did enjoy the summers I spent up there.

Drive safe folks!!!

If there was only one 997.2 GT3 RS in white w/red graphics you were passed by the reigning Porsche Canada GT3 Cup Platinum series Champion

I spoke to him in July when his friend with the Corvette had a mechanical issue. I forget the topic of conversation however I remember saying you love tooling around in your 72 911.
Hope he feels better soon.

He and Gary always drive together. Gary's a bit cooler-headed, thankfully, though possibly because he had a similar accident in 5 two years ago, and then yes, blew his engine earlier this year. They've racked up some pretty big bills at the track. Yet another thing I love about my car - it handles the track really well. Of course, I don't abuse it, but I do drive it hard, and it reacts really well. I have yet to have any major component break or fail at the track. Just brake pads and tires.

I like how you put this - I think it sums it up really well. What we do is meaningless, really. Doesn't mean it's not fun, but really, it doesn't mean anything to anyone.

I don't know.....you can argue the above, but it's my primary form of recreation/entertainment, and I really, REALLY enjoy the whole deal....the road trip to the track, eating out, hanging with fellow enthusiasts, (trying to) keep myself in shape to lessen the fatigue factor, the absolute mind-clearing effect it gives me, and certainly the driving more than anything. I simply love to drive, and to be able to drive on tracks like Mosport, WGI and Mid-Ohio regularly still blows me away.

And, if you instruct at all, the reaction you get from most students (or someone just riding with you) if they're into it is priceless. So I can argue that it CAN mean something to others and it most definitely means something to me.

But driving over your head trying to find an extra tenth or two (which I've certainly been guilty of) makes no sense.

Off the soapbox.....
