I am just trying this out now for a free month trial. I was disappointed with the quality.
It gets very compressed and it is not even close to DVD quality. Does anyone use this on a HDTV and is happy?
They sent out I question after watching a movie
The quality was very good
The quality was acceptable
The quality was unacceptable
I had to choose unacceptable, for $8 a month it's barely tolerable.

My dad got a subscription and we spent a week watching some stuff recently while at the cottage. It's ok - I would say the video quality is acceptable (I'm used to watching downloaded movies, where quality is more like VHS tapes), but for me the problem was selection. It reminded me of all the racks at the video store that I never browse. The kid stuff was decent, but what we get through Family, Disney and Treehouse on demand is better.

Quality wasn't bad but not super.
Regardless of the quality, you don't get recent movies and shows.
$8/month is not bad if you are outdated and want to watch stuff that you've missed in the last few years.

Even if the content is older, TMN also is just old stuff as well and costs 19.99/month. They have a lot of really good older stuff and I've missed a lot of TV.
I just can't stand that the blochy and fuzz created on objects that are off center screen. The blotchy fading from dark to light during lighting transitions are horrible.
While watching there was this spot a person who walked through a doorway and came on the center screen his face changed from a tan blotch to a human face as he got closer.
Even at center screen if you look at the detail of a stand of hair that is out of place on the head and you see the lack of definition and see distortion around it. I can even barely make out the nipples on breasts from all the blotchyness and that should be against the law.
In fact my s-video VCR sends better quality.

We had a free month with out new TV. Cancelled it after that. Content and delivery are just garbage IMHO.

I get excellent quality (definitly HD for HD shows) but it does drop down in quality to avoid buffering issues when appropriate (i.e. when my roommate's downloading whatever **** it is takes that long to do).
There's a bunch new TV and 80's/90's movies up on netflix as of last week.

As Dead-Eye said your account settings at netflix.ca will be set for the lowest quality change it to the highest they allow and you'll get 720p which looks quite decent. If you're using a PS3 hit the info button and it will tell you waht stream is running from low-sd to x-high-hd.

Keep us posted if "the nipples" are clear now. I may go down the netflix path eventually aswell, so I'm just curious what others have to say about the quality.
