Default Booster Seat for a 996 back seat !!!!!

I have some great news for the 996 owners today!

I had a little time to Kill today so dropped by a few Kid Specialty Stores. Tried a whole bunch of seats in the back of my 996 Turbo. I currently have a Britax Diplomat( discontinued ) that works well bit not perfect. 8/10

Sunshine Kids Montery- no way in hell it'll fit. 0/10

Britax Parkway- gets in there but a really sloppy fit, base is too wide and the lower base hovers over the bottom seat cushion. 6/10

Next store........

I instantly spot a very skinny looking Combi Kobuk booster with a full back. I've heard of just the Combi Kobuk Base Only fitting but I wanted a seat to keep the upper seatbelt in a proper position which is not across the neck. The sales lady at the store knows me well and says " help yourself to fit any seat "...... I grabbed the seat and ran out to the car. Threw it in the back and.....Bingo!!! We gave a winner!!!!!! I'm was almost in tears.... a few of the local RL guys know that I have spent countless hours/days trying to find a seat that fits well. This is it!

It's a current production 2011 booster seat that sits 40-100 lbs.

Fit is a 9.5/10

It did well in the crash test

It fits the back of my 996 TT with absolutely no Modifications.

That's great news! I've been on the hunt for my 928 but without luck. If I can find this one I'll see if it will work. Thanks!

I just need the lower bit - saw one at cdn tire that looks like it may be narrow enough to fit well. NB Booster. It was $25. They were sold out. I'll find one next week!

I would strongly recommend the Kobuk with the full seat back. The higher seat back allows for adjusting the height of the cars shoulder belt around your child's neck area. Otherwise the top part of the seatbelt rides too high and rest on your child's neck. Not ideal !!!

No experience with older kids though.

OK my kid has hit booster size - but do you think I can locate a Kobuk for a reasonable price? If anyone is offloading or has seen a deal please let me know! (I'm in Vancouver).

Cheers Ben

Check out this booster at Canadian Tire - no back, (cheap) and fits pretty much perfectly, even the colour in dark grey is a nice fit in the back of the 996.

http://kidslane.ca/combi-kobuk-booster-7/

Lil Niblets and baby sprouts had it too.

This actually scored well in crash ratings. Just doing enough to not get a ticket is not my style ;-)

Is there any overhang on the seat base once installed? I need something that will fit on the driver's side of my 997 that will leave lots of leg room for my toddler (new baby on the way and will be using a rear facing baby seat on the passenger side).

P.S. I don't see it on http://www.lilniblets.com/ - thinking I may want to jump on this now as it may not be a regular stock item.. especially where it's only $79 @ Lil Niblets vs. $160 @ Kid's Lane!

..... assuming 997 C2 offers a similar fit to a 996 TT!

I also have a Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR Booster (30-100lbs) - is a bit tight getting seat belt buckle in because of the plastic, but is a good fit, full back booster etc...
It was around $200 IIRC.

Kobuk seems to have evaporated in Canada as far as I can tell. The Combi website is useless too.

Cheers Ben
