Picked up an Mann filter for the 996 for $15 at CT. I think that's a really good price for something that you can get at any CT. I don't think at this price it's worth going anywhere else.

I haven't checked on the size, but I picked up a kit of various size copper o rings from Princess Auto a couple of weeks ago. I would think one of them would fit. There are multiple quantities of each size in the kits.

Swooping in for another highjack!

Where do you guys take your empty (clean oil) containers for recycling? I know OrangeDrop exists, but man, it's so inconvenient and far from my place. Does CT take empty oil bottles?

Mine are never empty, let alone clean but if there were, I would take them to the landfill and leave it where the other empty oil jugs are (next to the used oil tank).

Cool thanks!

I've been putting my spent oil into empty 4L washer fluid bottles and returning them to the dump on Disco Rd by Pearson. I should've taken the empty quart bottles with me last time I was there too! Doh!

Thanks again guys!

I use the four or five liter containers and put the old oil back in them and drop them off at CT.
you could just put the used containers in the garbage, no special trip required.

Most installers will not complain about getting used oil as they are paid for it by companies such as Safety Kleen etc. Back around 2010 it was 25 cents per litre for bulk now I think it's around 15 cpl or so.

As for empties yup regular garbage is fine. The big oil express lube outfits throw them right in the trash.

Seriously? That's what I want to avoid doing. There is always a teaspoon of oil left behind in the containers no matter what. I don't want that to go to in the landfill.

The reason I don't put the spent oil back into these containers is that it would be messier and more time consuming to fill 12 x 1L bottles vs. 3 x 4L jugs. Also, my aircooler takes fancy oil that I can only acquire in 1L bottles.

Really? You pay taxes for garbage pick-up. Toss 'em in any bin and they'll deal with them. All blue and green bin stuff is hand sorted at massive cost which you pay for so you might as well get your money's worth. Even if you put it in the grey bin, a little oil is no different than all the paint tins and other toxic stuff that is disposed that way. And if by chance you're an enviro weenie, you're polluting driving your garbage when it could be picked up.

Our in Durham, oil bottles go int the blue bin. My old oil goes in larger bucket, like drywall mud size and I either drop them off at CTC or the local dump center.
