After reading another member's tale of towing...I decided to get off the pot and call CAA to see what is what as far as how best to protect myself in the 'event of an event' during my planed vacation trip to the Maritimes in the '95 993.
The CAA Premier membership seemed to be a good choice given the distinct lack of Porsche dealers between Montreal and Halifax, so that was an obvious choice, but when I asked about an 'associate membership' for my wife he mentioned that it is now possible to 'mix and match' an associate membership, and bonus... a CAA 'Plus' associate membership is on special for only $50.00, instead of $92.50. And, they still have a bag of USB chargers to give away to new membership, or upgrades.
No affiliation, just passing along the info...

Damn.. I joined online, and none of the specials were offered...
still... I'm further ahead.. saved a $500 tow for $169 membership fee. Already in the black, and since I travel alot, i'll be using the hotel discounts to the max.
for 50 cents a day.. its pretty decent "insurance"
just sayin..

I don't utilize the hotel feature much since I have family and friends in all 3 maritime provinces. Gotta make the journey to the 'rock' one of these days, just hate to put the car on such a long ferry ride, only to risk bagging a moose out of season

I got a tow from them once. The CAA driver had me sigh a weiver so if my car got damaged during the (flatbed) tow. They were not responsible. I bet they dont tell you that when you sign with then.
I phoned CAA and they stated that yes it is their form. Took some digging.

Not a lawyer but bet it holds no force in law. It's like the dry cleaner and coat check waivers. As long as they're charging you, they are responsible. Remember, it's the judge who decides!
