I think Mobil 1 gives a monopoly to the stealers, so we have to pay stupid prices for 12 litres of oil.

funny about going back to the 5 litre bottles since last year or the year before they switched from 5 to 4.4...guess it didn't work as a way to make more $$, so they have to switch back.
I love the capitalist system: supply(including competition) and demand,

I'm pretty sure we went from 4 to 4.4, now to 5.

The official response from the buying team is that there is insufficient demand to offer more than the castrol in 5w50.

I guess I'll have to add this to the list of stuff to buy when I'm south. "Sir do you have anything to declare?" "Yes, I have 30 jugs of Mobil 1 oil...."

I had my GF bring back 10 quarts of M1 V Twin 20W50 with no issues and it was less than 1/2 the CT price.

Default Group Buy

Jamie,
Are the 5 liter M1 15/50 available for you to purchase from a distributor, perhaps a group buy if enough Rennlisters can commit to a number of jugs.

No, I'm restricted to buying mostly CT stuff. We sell the M1 15W50, not the 5W50.

I do, all the time.

When Wal-Mart USA carried Mobil 1 15W-50 till recently, it was $22 to $26 for a 5 US quart jug (4.73 liters).

Advance Auto Parts or Pep Boys, I can't remember which, carries it in the quart sizes and after asking, will give a case (12 quarts) discount.

I just bought 2 5 liter jugs of M1 15w50 from Crescent Oil on Cannon St in Hamilton. They also have M1 5w50 in 5 liter jugs. Cost for the 15w50 was $45 per jug

I recently hooked up with the Quebec distributor for Mobil 1 and the best i could get it for is $8.70 per liter for 15W50 ... CDN Tire sells it for $11.79 and not all stores carry it anymore.
I was told it comes in cases of 6 liters,at least i was able to find some because that's what i have been using in my 911 for the last three years and i plan on using it for many more ...

Cheers !
Phil

I wrote into CT to express my dissatisfaction about this and they basically told me "too bad." Apparently there isn't much demand for it and not worth the shelf space to them.
