Chipped Windshield
So, I have a stone chip right under the wiper on passenger side, does anyone know what that costs to get fixed? Also, would you put that through insurance or just pay it out of pocket?

Just did a chip repair on my Jeep. Cost $100 at Speedy glass. I was lucky enough that it wasn't a big chip. They tell you before they do the work that theres a chance the window could crack as their trying to fix it.

How big is it? If it's small, there's a kit at Canadian Tire to DIY fix it. I had a small one in the 911 windshield a couple years ago, maybe 1/2 cm across, and the kit fixed it flawlessly - I couldn't find any evidence of the chip or repair after it was done. I can't remember what it cost, but I'm sure it was under $10. Took about 10 minutes, plus letting it sit to cure, then cleaning it up.

my insurance paid for mine, just call your insurance and ask if you have Glass Insurance.
Then tell them you want to take it to the closest Apple Auto or Speedy Glass they will book it for you... Well atleast RBC did for me...

In BC ICBC will do the glass repair at no cost to the insured. If you want a new windshield then you pay your deductible under the comprehensive part of you policy. No effect on future insurance premiums. I had this a couple of months ago.

You can find the chipr repair tent at most CT parking lots and ask for their oppinion. They are probably as good as Speedy or Apple but with a much lower overhead.

I used to repair them on the side years ago (Glass Mechanic). It's easy to do with the right tools.
The worse thing you can do is leave it and have the car get hot inside. It will crack quickly. Go to any glass shop and get it done asap as it is going to get real warm this weekend.
UV light cures it ... so leave it in the sunlight for a few hours after its done.
