Yeah congrats!

Hope things work out for ya, wouldn't be surprised if the Canadian Tire guy got it wrong... they're not exactly know for their high-end car service.

Let us know how it works out.

Cheers,

Sid.

Looks like Canadian Tire got it right. New tie rod and alignment completed at Zorotech and all is good. Picked up my plates today.

Aslo while I was at Zorotech another Porsche owner offered to trade a set of "lobster fork" rims from a 4S for my 2S rims. Not sure about the extra 16mm of offset for the 2S. Seems like a lot. Any thoughts? Probably too aggressive. Running 295 tires.

Glad it worked out!

Porsche has a set of 16mm spacers for the rear, they look really good on my C4S so they should fit yours as well 'cause the stock wheels have quite a bit of room to be moved out.

Good luck.

Sid.

Welcome, nice ride.
You actually let Canadian Tire touch your car?
I know, it's a necessary evil of our import process.

Just want to add a point; Cdn Tire are contracted by RIV to do the import inspection but one doesnot need get the safety from them. Better to go to a trusted Porsche garage for this. Likewise for emission test-go to a garage you really trust. Assume you courriered B of S and title to US Customs 72 hours ahead. How does Porsche handle the Recall Clearance Letter?? Does Porsche Canada charge an arm and a leg for it?

For the recall letter I asked Intersport in Virginia to get me a recall letter. They are not an authorized Porsche dealer as such so they got a "job performance " printout from a local Porsche dealer. I e-mailed the printout to RIV but they did not accept it at first as there was no official dealer letterhead/stamp, etc. After a few calls to them and discussions they finally oked it. Never needed any "airbag french stikers" either or child tether brackets.
Only had Canadian Tire do the emmission and safety inspection but no actual work. Seemed easier at the time as it was there for the RIV inspection. All in all it was a fairly easy process.

Still have not decided on the 4S rim exchange. I think the 4S rim on the 2S would be slightly too aggressive as the rim at 16 mm offset difference would actually be past the actual fender.
