Default Looking for 997 C2S or special 996TT. Toronto

Hi All!

I have been lurking here for years and its time for me to buy my first Pcar!

Im very fond of two very different Porsches.

I love the 997C2S', especially with the factory aero kit. I would hope to find a really nice local used example and the options that I think I value are sports chronos, sports/GT3 seats, PSE (or Tubi), X51 preferred but not required, full leather, turbo wheels (or black aftermarkets in a style I like)...Closer the car is to a GT3 with backseats, the better.

But I know that there are some very very special 996TTs out there too and if I could find one that worked for me, I would take that over the 997, but it would have to be a special PTurbo. I love the stock 996 PTurbos, but in my case I think that I would be looking for a very tastefully modified turbo.

I prefer black or white. Mileage is not that important to me but up to date maintenance and a history of complete reliability is very, and overall condition is a very high priority as well. I am fine with a car that has been tracked, but I am not fine with a car that has been flogged and abused. I will be putting kids in the back on rare occasions so I cant have harness bars back there.

Im reaching out to you Toronto locals as a sincere buyer of either of the two cars up above. I want to keep the price below $60k and so far I have found tons of options for me in the US. Id prefer a CDN car and Id prefer an easy transaction, so Im hoping that I can find something local to Toronto that fits the bill.

TIA!

I bought my 2003 996tt x50 in 2009 from a guy in Milton-it had 68,000km when I got it, passed the PPI and was winter stored etc- well taken care of--I took my time and found the right car for $64k--you are doing the right thing by paying more attention to proper care by the owner than a few extra km's.
I think you can now get non-x50 turbos for $50 - $55k, and the x50's are $55k-$60k for good examples now.
If you find a 996 turbo you like, PM me and I can give you a few ideas of things to look for in these cars that you may not see in your initial inspection. Also, visit the 996tt forum on this site--lots of good info there. They are very good all-rounders--great ride around town, then great track cars too. Best value for your money--and once you've gone boost, you'll never go back!

you are goona have to shop in the US for special cars, skip the 996 and get 997

Or if you are willing to Import from Middle East, all the Special cars are there :P Best thing i have seen was in Kuwait, 996 TTS it was the Mecademia Brown with Cocca Interior White Stiching, Full Leather & Carbon Fiber interior with GT2 Front Bumper and Rear Wing... Interior eveyhing was covered in Leather, even the Seat adjuster *****

Yes, I agree that a special 996tt is almost certainly going to come from the US, but I bet that there are a few in Canada, some may be forsale.

Check out this one in the US: http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/a...e650-pccb.html

Thanks for all the replies so far. I'm really looking forward to the new ride.

good luck! I think you will have to go to the states unless you want to pay more for a stock car. I think you should just increase your budget and buy the white one. as you stated they are 2 very different cars so I don't understand why you include the c2. just get the turbo with the gt1 engine, and has done most of the depreciating already. white 996tts are rare.

Have a look at the 2 Porsche 996 TT at Car Enthusiast on Warden Ave. Ask for Carlton. Both cars came as "trade-ins" from Pfaff with service history.

+1 on the gt1 engine....more juice, no ims/rms issues. No 993 but very nice looking.

The silver one is really nice. I think even the IMS (or RMS) cannot remember which, was done by the dealer. I was close to getting that one but ended up pulling the trigger on a 997 c2 instead.

I have bought many cars from them over the years and they have all been good to me!

Good luck!

Like the m96/97 engine, the "GT1" engine is not totally immune from internet hysteria: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-turb...-concerns.html

Yeah. The NSX has been awesome but its lack of a backseat is making me sell it. My kids are going in two different directions these days and I need to be able to use my car as a kid hauler on occasion (and 12mos of the year).

It was a great many years with the NSX. A guy said he wanted it before I was even able to put it up forsale. He flies in this weekend to drive it home. I will miss it dearly and I think that the best car to replace it is a Pcar. Unsure which one but I know Im looking in the right direction.
