Sorry no offence. I would have thought that the weight of a baby plus car seat would trip the weight sensor under the seat for the airbag to make it 'live'? No?
It is legal as long as there is an airbag shut-off device, either with a weight sensor or manually actuated. Just like a regular cab pickup truck.

I'm pretty sure it's legal. Here's the legislation, from an earlier post of mine, which, according to my interpretation, says that it's only illegal if the air bag is not or cannot be turned off:
Despite subsections (7) and (7.1), a pre-school to primary grade child shall not be secured in a seating position if the seating position has a front air bag that has not been turned off or cannot be turned off. O. Reg. 195/05, s. 1; O. Reg. 236/09, s. 2 (9).
3. Children weighing 18 kilograms or more but less than 36 kilograms and who are less than 145 centimetres tall are classified as pre-school to primary grade children. O. Reg. 195/05, s. 1.
I contacted mto last year and they verified that a child in a forward facing seat or booster can sit in front of a sports car as long as air bags are not on.
