Question Abandoned air strip in Ontario?

There are a few vids of guys running the Texas Mile on other threads and I'm wondering if there is anywhere to do this in Ontario? I really only want to do it once to say I did. Maybe there'll be some downtime at Buttonville between when they shut it down and when the bulldozers role in.

Picton airfield. My local club runs an autocross there a few times a summer, using two of three available runways.

Buttonville is too short and also family run - hence legal issues. You'll have more success with DND. I know North Bay is used for motor cycle racing around sept - it has a 9800ft runway with a 150 overshoot section. Trenton is the longest runway in Ontario (10500) outside of 32 at Toronto at 11K. YYC has the longest active runway in Canada at 14K.

Race the Base in Cold Lake Alberta is an option if you want to really stretch the legs...

Not an airstrip but if you don't mind hiking up there you might consider the James Bay road.

I got a chance to do this many moons ago.
7400rpm in 5th gear. Not likely to ever see that again.

What would really suck on the James Bay Rd is to have a moose step out of the bush in front of you

website says: extremely bumpy and you may severely damage your car even if travelling at 100km/hr,

I haven't driven it but also read that. But it's only rough for a short stretch and otherwise there's 500 kms of glorious swoopy twisters.

Re: the James Bay road. I copied this from a site about bikers. Bad news

After this tour, it took me several months to get my pulse rate back under control, for the occasional spooky flashback to pass, and for the idiotic grimace-grin to be wiped from my face. It wasn’t until late in the trip that some Cree guys told me that the rumours of no cops/no speed limits were patently untrue, meaning that I was regularly 100 kph (60 mph) or so over the limit, making me subject to immediate arrest and transportation to Syria.

They also did an armdrop drag at Picton last summer. It's probably the closest other than Shannonville test and tune days on their drag strip.

good Luck finding one that will let you run an event here.
Brampton has one but to much RED tape.

The 407 is the Best but worst.
