Screwed over? You think that the Canadian auto parts (or retail or whatever) is making any more money than the Americans by 'screwing' anyone?

I'm not complaining, but the american tax system makes is substantially easier and more profitable to operate a business. But last time I priced a whole wack of parts out for a major job on a BMW, I found that going to the US wasn't all that much, if at all, more expensive than buying locally (with a decent discount). By the time you factor in duty and shipping not to mention after sales support, it usually isn't that far off.

With the dollar on par it surely makes some sense to consider sending your money south, but I never assume it to be the case anymore. Shop around and do your research. Lets not forget how it never hurts to have a local jobber with all those tools and tech advice in your corner because you're a frequent shopper.

Please don't assume I'm attacking you, I buy from the US sometimes too and recognize that the pricing CAN be better down there, I'm just suggesting that the term 'screwed' may be a little strong.

I don't offend easily at the best of times........
I did not mean to infer that Canadian suppliers or jobbers were making huge profits at customers expense. For all I know, they're in the same position with respect to costs.
I've just had far better service and price from my US supplier than I've had when trying to deal here in Canada, and, I haven't the time nor inclination to continuously look for the best deals for any given bit I might need.
Bear in mind too, my car is almost an alien being in this country even at a dealership.

The team ordered Pagids for our 924/944 ChumpCar from Braiden... as well as tires, helmets, and whole bunch of other stuff. Brad is very knowledgeable and helpful.

Works pretty well on my 911 ... anything wrong with that ?
Yes, front and rear with a Fabcar dual master and Tilton brake bias adjuster !

I'm still very grateful to JimV8 , a fine Rennlister from Toronto who sold me his nearly new, stock 996 TT brake setup a few years back !
