Hi all,

Could potentially pick up car this week.. Wondering if I'll make it home without winter tires from the dealership to my home. About 15 KM from Woodbridge to Maple..

Stick to the major roads and drive slow. Pick a day when it's not snowing and the streets have been plowed. BTW, congrats again on picking up your new baby

I can't recall but I think the car has summers on them.. maybe all season at best.. So it'll be okay to drive in sub zero weather? Wondering if I can just flat bed tow it to my place

It's all depending on the road condition.. if there is a nice bed of snow, it could be more complicated, if it's clean and dry no problem, but yes you could definitely get it towed to your place, and avoid any chance of incident, and keep her salt free

Just be careful and you'll be fine. Gingerly manage the trottle. No sudden on/offs mid corner. My '91 C4 came home in sleet and snow on half worn all season tires. These cars have astonishing grip and yours will have all the modern electronic gubbins that will keep things shiney side up.

Happy motoring.

so you bought a Porsche to drive in the summer and you have no idea if it has all seasons or summer tires? do you know what a set of summer tires go for on this car? and what a major difference there is between all seasons and summers on a Porsche?
if you are not driving it in winter I would flat bed it (CAA is a good idea)
if you want to drive it just pick a clear day and your will be fine. going up hill in fresh snow with traffic could pose a problem with summers.
good luck and enjoy the car!

Let's not pick on him (yet).
First off - congrats on the new car.

Secondly - if it were my money, I'd wait for the roads to be bone clear and for a warmer day. I bought an NSX late in the season and waited a week to pick it up becuase the dealer told me a story of the PS2 tires getting very very hard in temps below freezing. He had a client in another NSX hit a pole driving it home the year before.

Better safe than sorry. Many would chance it and it's hard to resist, but I'd wait a few days if I had to. High performance tires get very hard in the cold.

FWIW I drove my new to me Boxster home last Dec. 22nd with rear tires that were marginal at best (I couldn't locate replacements at that time of the year despite calling many shops). Probably not the smartest thing to do but needless to say I made it home and into the garage in one piece with a grin from ear to ear the whole way.

You will most likely make it home... but if it where me, I would ask the dealer to arrange delivery on a flat bed. They should be able to arrange something cheap for you...

The problem is that no matter how careful you will try to be, you are finally in YOUR Porsche. The temptation is too much, and if you get carried away you may end of regretting it... wait until the spring, you will not regret it.

Yeah going ot wait a week to see if it clears up .. if not, going to flat bed it.. it's not worth the risks.

Certainly talk to the dealer about flat-bedding it. If that doesn't work out, and the roads don't improve to the point where YOU are comfortable, then I would recommend Abrams. I used them when I wanted to move a car. I told them it was a Porsche and they sent out a guy who typically does all their high end stuff. He was a great guy, took extreme care with everything and the price was very reasonable.

His name is Carlyle and his cell is 647-895-7535 (this was two years ago BTW) - again, really top notch guy, totally exceeded all my expectations.

Good luck and congratulations!
