Default Wife Quit?

Steve, are you trying to quit solo? Is your wife also quitting? Buddy of mine smoked 2 packs a day and quit cold turkey, however he made several attempts and finally quit.

Last week, I made up my mind! DONE. whenever it happens, this is the week!

Well that day came on Saturday night. as of Sunday morning, I've had only Two(2) ciggarettes, and both on sunday. last one at 4:00 pm

So it has been 48 hrs now,

LMAO, I hoped my wife would try to occupy my mind like that, should have known better.........

Keep it up Steve, you guys can do it. Right now I am having a glass of wine, kinda wanting one, but wont' do it.

BTW, it was mentioned above about quitting all the 'triggers', I don't agree. When you quit, and you are going cold turkey, it's a mind set. If you can drink/have coffee/eat/screw and still have the mind set you are not going to smoke, you have challenged your self. If you pass those tests quickly after deciding to quit, you have hit the home run.

I didn't change any of my normal routine. Sure, it's only been a couple of weeks, but figured that if I hid myself from normal situations, then I would be faking it. I've been blasted out of my mind, drink my morning tea every morning, I still eat. I also have the cravings for a smoke, but don't have one. I've kept a pack here in the garage that has had 10 in it for two weeks. Forgot it was here until I started to post.

For those that have not seen our conversations on FB, I smoked for 24 years and quit cold turkey on the Monday the first of November. Dont' know why I did it, just decided to right then and there, no planning, no thoughts about doing it, just did it. Hell, had some cigs left here. I just felt it was the right time to do so.

You can do it Steve, keep it up.

Think about the money savings, so far I'm up to $144.00

Good for you. Yes, it's totally a state of mind thing. I found quitting very easy once I decided I didn't want to anymore.

As for your idle hands....there is lots of works you could be doing on your car....or house...or you =P

Now that you're past the third day you're in great shape. They say it's the third day, third week and third month that you have to watch for. That's when you might think, "Oh, one smoke won't affect me!". Then you're right back to a pack a day. I know, I'm the "Golden Slipper" when it comes to the nicotine habit.

Good Luck!

Default I quit too

I quit 18 months ago and I never missed it. Smoke for 30 years; since I was 15. Iwas really good at it.
MY advise - dont cheat - not even one
indulge in any other vices food, chocolate, whatever, no booze, you can lose the weight later- but you cant fix dead.

Good luck!

Thumbs up

Forgot to mention, I started walking after 8 months off the sticks; because of my endulgence in food, then that turned to running and last week at Banff Winterstart I completed my 8th race. Running i sa good hobby, it's hard to light a smoke when you are running.....

Replace with sex? Of course your wife might buy you a carton soon after...

Just think of all the extra cash you've got for 928 parts now! I quit cold turkey one day driving along the QEW - threw the half pack out the window. That was 26 years ago. I have the odd cigar once in awhile but have no cravings for ciggies.
