Porsche supplied battery maintainer kept my Boomerang 1 car happy all winter. A maintainer is a smart charger which will charge more or less depending on the state of the charge in the battery. It is a low power device though and not designed to charge a dead battery, rather to keep a charged battery full charged in spite of drain caused by on board electronics and stupid boomerangs trying to call home.
