Can anyone recommend a baby seat for the back of a 911?
I'm in the market for an infant baby seat, but I don't really know where to begin.
Is there a 911 specific one? I heard Porsche and Recaro make them, but I don't know if they fit a 964.
Any suggestions or experience or baby seats for sale are welcomed.

if that is a rear facing seat you are looking for.... try pegperego... back 7 short years ago, we were having problems finding a seat that fit in the smallist back seat of our jetta, which may be like a stretched limo to your 964
good luck....
(that brings up the issue of whether a 911 will be a good family car...)

I've never seen a rear-facing child seat in the back. Given all my efforts to install a foreward facing seat and booster seat, my gut tells me it's almost impossible. I hope I can be proven wrong. But it I don't think you can get a rear facing seat secure enough. My daughter was 2.5years before I put her in the 964.
I used the smallest Britax (Roundabout) I could find. Installed Brey Krause bolts in the seat belt holes and use the UAS clips to secure the seat. Its adequate, but not ideal. Also if the car is post '91 and Canadian, it will have the rear dash mounted clip. You have to dremel the rear deck to access it.
You know where to reach me if you want more details.

I went through this process a few years ago, and the end result is that there is no child seat that is approved for a 911 by Transport Canada. My mechanic spent a day calling U.S. distributors and found out that Porsche used to manufacture a seat but decided to discontinue selling it here for liability reasons. Having said all that, I used a Recaro seat for my son til he hit 40 pounds, then switched to a Clek booster (built by Magna, and a great booster).

I assume from your experience it fits well in a back seat of a 964? Does your car have the baby seat anchors?
I just googled it, but got different results. Does the Juvenile have a specific product code or similar identifier?
Thanks,

Went to Babies R Us - the only 5 available infant seats are rear facing, and have clips that connect to the child seat restraints that aren't there in my US - Canadian car..... Gee...Thanks RIV program! When have you ever helped ME out? EH?
Anyways, we'll have to use the other car until the bebe is big enough that he/she will fit in a car seat small enough to go in the back. Tnx everyone!

The 'latch' anchor points I believe u are speaking about were only introduced in the 2002 or 2003 model year. No such thing back in the 90's or whatever model year a 964 is....

I found a couple forward facing options that will work with the current seat belt. There are no infant seats / rear facing seats that will fit, so I won't be able to take the little guy / girl for its first ride until it's 20 lbs or something.

From my experience, the only way you're going to get a rear-facing seat in there is in the front seat, period. And I came to the same conclusion you did - they just won't get to ride in the 911 until they're a year old and can go forward-facing. Before you know it, they'll be in booster seats, and life will become much simpler. Unless of course you don't have shoulder belts and have to install them, and get them to set perfectly flat, and drill 8 holes in your decklid....

I need to revive this thread. I'm stuck. See my other posts in the Canada forum.
Christien, what did you install? Pickering, did you get that Recaro seat in Canada?
My 2002 Targa has no Latches (it has an anchor on the rear dash).
Stig, can you tell me more about your 'Brey Krause installation'?
I gave up on rear facing but my son will be one year old in less than a month so, realistically, I'm preparing for spring. I don't want to procrastinate as I'm fearing that there may only be one seat out there and if it is discontinued - - - I wasted a lot of effort tracking down a 911 thinking it could be a 'family car'.
