it's a Porsche ! ... take your 1G hit and be glad your back on the road .. sure it could have been cheaper if you had gone other routes but quality mechs tend NOT to use cheap parts as they have to warranty it.
james the only difference is when your coolant leaks out it is jet black , more of an enviromental concern, and costs a lot more to put back in than water .. but I agree .. don't know what this water pump thing is all about ..
I think Imre could have come over and fixed out for about 4.00 worth of JB weld and some tape ..

I could have bought the pump from Suncoast for $250 but didn't want to wait.
Also found water pumps on eBay ranging from $95 - $365 brand new OEM...WTF?
Not a bad price considering the water pump replacement on my tow vehicle (Dodge Durango) was $800... but I changed a few belts and pulleys as well.

I had DHL and even Fed/Ex deliver parts from Huston and Sand Diego in less than 2 days. A water pump should not be more than $60 to express ship.

For the 928, a new aftermarket water pump (not a reman) and aftermarket timing belt is $400. The labour is around 7hrs. If the tensioner and rollers needs to be rebuilt, the total will (including labour) get close to $2500.

Couldn't agree more. Especially when you're driving something as old as I am. It's always something little that leaves you at the roadside saying "f#ck!". Last summer it was the tumbler in my ignition switch. Something as simple as two pieces of metal not making contact to close the circuit left me stranded with my then-3-year-old. Couldn't even push start it b/c it was a gravel parking lot. CAA to the rescue, free 2-hour tow, and the guy even put up with my daughter's Lion King CD for the whole trip

You've flatbeded a car to have the battery charged? 30min is too fast to properly charge a battery. The shop should have told you this.

Hey Jake, sorry to hear about your troubles. You could have saved a couple of dollars shipping it in, but at least your back on the road .. +1 for Autowerks.
The Escape we have for our boys seems to always be costing me $1,000 so the same for the 'p' is not bad.
