Default Mosport Little Track - Pointers

Does anyone have a track map or any valuable pointers for the Mosport DDT course? I will be hitting that up on the 1st and I've only done the big track up till now.

Having driven by it a few times it looks like there's more runoff room?

I've seen alleys in Europe with more runoff room than the big track

Take care of the curbs! We've had a big BMW roll over there this year - the guy got sideways (with instructor on board!) and slid into the curb and over she went. Do not assume wider open spaces = better safety.

DDT is a waste of time and tires. Pretty much impossible to pass not to mention not safe to pass. On a bike... It's ok but wouldn't bring the car. This is more suited for go karts!

Am doing the GP bikes day there on the 'priller.

Torontoworker: Holy sheit, those curbs sound as brutal as the ones at shanny.

Try lapping a 'larger' Porsche like a 928 on the DDT and it becomes an excercise in frustration. The configuration can be clockwise or counter-clockwise, with or without the infield bends, it doesn't help much. Feels like a bull in a china shop. This is with a 928 with upgraded suspension, brakes, etc.

Not a bad place to do your initial track instruction or some basic car setup testing I guess, but it really is better for karts than cars.

Omar... Unless it's free. I wouldn't bother taking the P car. Even on a liter bike it's like a bull in a china shop! So not fun.

I think the best development exercise for drivers is o take 2-stroke kart out for a spin. There fast as hell and you pick up about 2 Gs in the corners. If you're into it, do a few lapping sessions then sign up for a race..

The DDT was really built for Charlie/Brent Goodman's operation a few years back and it is ok for the use they put it to with those tiny 1600's, but full size sedans are a waste. The cart track on the outfield at corner 8 has some rentals that don't look half bad. Last weekend I was across track at 8 on the Sunday for Vintage and watched a couple of the kids flip on the far banking that's close to the oval. One of them really got it wrong - he hit the inside grass on a weird early turn in and then it started flipping end over end. He got up and sat there with people for a minute or two but he really had a bell ringer. Just goes to show you that you can have a s**t happen moment anywhere if you try hard enough - even on kart tracks.

Watch for gravel going uphill in the counter-clockwise configuration. That, and there are many fewer turns than there appear to be in most configurations.

Gah, some car dropped oil at the back of the course and it was still there (as was the dust used 2 clean it up). This track is too dirty for bikes and very tight on top of that. some of the lines are really really rough from cars chunking it up.

the event was extremely well organized but the track and varying track temps claimed a few bikes and riders. Almost binned it near the back section (slow ish left hander after a fast sweeper, who knows what number turn it is). The thing tried to spit me off and my hand smacked the pavement at a decidedly good speed and is quite painful for now (but how will i use interweb **** now ) All in all i got off quite lucky.

Next up, big track again

Cheers 2 the marshalls and EMS service for helping those riders who needed it.

The small track is crap now. I used to drive on it years ago, and it was a blast in my relatively tiny Datsun 280Z. 100mph up the back straight..er curve?!!! right at a 90 degree turn with a wall. Lots of different configuration setups are possible there, so for pointers it is kinda difficult to suggest. It is very tight. I found it a mainly a 2nd and 3rd gear with two or three spots where 4th was usable.

I belive it is a great starter track, as inexperienced drivers simply don't have enough room to get going too fast.

BTW we never allowed passing when we used that track WAY too narrow. It is a huge upgrade from my parking lot autoX events.
