Model Canadian Currency Credit (for April 2010 deliveries)
Boxster models $4,000
Cayman models $4,500
911 models $6,000 - $9,000
Cayenne models $2,500 - $8,000
Panamera models $5,000 - $10,500
“Available across the entire Porsche range through participating dealers, Canadian Currency Credits act as an effective price adjustment during this time when the Canadian dollar is close to US-dollar parity. They are available even on virtually sold-out models like the new 911 GT3 RS,” added Lawrence. “Customers are encouraged to contact their local Porsche dealership for the latest information.”

A top end priced 911 shouldn't be at the very bottom end of the 911 "currency correction" rebate scale.

T-Worker, increasing the prime lending rate should increase demand for Canadian dollars which would drive our dollar higher than it is now. Good for commodity exports but bad for manufacturing and certainly retail as Canadians would find US prices even more attractive.
I think copper, nickel and oil are driving the value of our dollar right now! If the central bank rate goes up as they are saying in July (or earlier) the current Government is going to have to pick sides in this 'new' economy.

As an ex senior economist with the feds, I gotta agree with you on most counts TO Worker. However regarding interest rates, the C$ is not really a currency anyone wants so they have to be paid to buy and hold it beyond what is required for regular commercial needs. As the US$ recovers, the C$ will decline......Hey, try and explain why a copy of "Porsche 993 The Essential Companion" is anywhere from $109 to $170 in Canada, if you can get it, and easily sourced in the US for $68.

Your car is beautiful - Me it was & $7,500.00 glove box money from Audi on my RS4 purchase 30 days after I took delivery yet but I am in line on my TT settlement tomorrow for this program - net sum...almost zero so don't worry you'll make it back on the next one....the net sum is always "0"...

'Oh no' she replies, the're independent'.
I said 'no they are not - they may be a separate division, but they are owned by your parent company'.
Then the real truth comes out.
Well she says - 'they have to match prices with Amazon.ca'.
'Oh, so you don't want to match prices with Barnes and Noble or any other bookstore in Buffalo'?
Big pause....
'well we have protection at the border for book dumping'.
I said 'no one is dumping this book - it's listed as $99.95US right here on the cover and if someone wants to sell it cheaper in the US - that's hardly dumping - it's called a competitive economy'.
Well for the next 10 minutes we have people gathering around us as the two of us word wrestle around why I think her boss would have done quite well back in the day helping Stalin implementing more of his failing 5 year Soviet wheat harvest plans and she suggests that I would do quite well ripping off power customers and shareholders at Enron!
It was a pretty funny few minutes dueling with an U of T economics's student (she informed me) slumming her way (my take) through school working for minimum wage and all the customers she can pizz off.

The Canadian retailers want us to swallow the 'cost of being Canadian' hook line and sinker. The problem is that they are trapped by the internet (and the world) into sort of competing - although they still get an extra few bucks mark up. So bottom line is that we are fools shopping in bricks and morter operations up here until they lower their prices and the car industry here isn't much better.

Just signed the paper work on my new 2011 GT3 and there was a $6000 Cash credit. But the base price went from $138100 for the 2010 to $142600 for the 2011, were still getting F@$ked in my book

Hilarious TO worker. It is only dumping if they sell it here CHEAPER than there! As a dyed in the wool capitalist, I say screw 'em. I holiday every year in the Cape and rent an apartment from a Porche guy. I'll order and have them delivered there. I'm going to put a thread up taking orders at US cost!
