Just got off the phone with Greg and it turns out that they undercharged some Canadians for recent purchases and got charged back by UPS so they are being more careful on their charges now. I'm going to try and get it shipped to Niagara Falls on the US side and see if it comes up cheaper. I'm ordering some electronics that only ship to US addresses so will pick the stuff up at one time.

What is it with car sales people.... they always seem to be selling at a loss, and yet still stay in business

I think the UPS experience is almost universally bad. I've had horrible personal experiences and watched many friends struggle with either poor service or outrateous, unjustified duty charges. When the parts are "right here" and all that stands in the way of getting your car running again (or running sweeter) - there's little resistance to paying the pending charges. But all that's led to is my 100% committment to NEVER deal with a firm that won't ship via USPS. Service is good to great - shipping tracking is adequate and integrated with Canada Post and charges are totally acceptable.

1Gunner - happy to hear you haven't had any problems - but you are certainly an outlier data point.

I have NO clue how UPS stays in business. Can't wait till business karma catches up with them.

You hope. Some have received a detailed invoice a couple of weeks later.

I no longer have anything shipped up here; instead, I pick up my orders at The UPS Store.

A recent order to a discount Porsche dealer stateside: CA$430.35
Same parts priced at a local Porsche dealer: CA$797.98

For a savings of CA$367.63. Shipping was an additional CA$18.56.

I get my Honda parts stateside as well; 30% off MSRP.

why not sunset in Oregon? when I order from the states I like to use them 15% off list (for pca members). I send them to a US address. 2 other good vendors are Pelican and paragon.
did you guys notice a coupon for $100 off $350 worth of parts came with Panamera the other day? I almost threw mine out by accident.

It's unfortunate UPS has chosen to "pick on you and your friends".....
Not sure what you've done to deserve such treatment..... more karma?

Maybe they are going to send me an invoice, but they are over well over 6 months behind in their paper work..... until they do, the savings delivered to my door are to substantial to ignore....

In that case, you are OK.

I once had an order delivered up here which I refused because I told the store to send it to my US address. A couple of weeks later I got the brokerage invoice which I ignored. They voided it after I called them.

Savings? You are preaching to the choir. I've been shopping/mail ordering stateside since the late 80s and even when the exchange rate was near 58% I still saved $$$.

Makes you wonder, doesn't it? But it explains the nice machinery some of these business owners are driving...fortunately not on my buck.

You mean Provinz? With my luck, the only thing I found is the Mobil 1 pamphlet.

The discount coupon is in the March issue of Panorama. Note that the coupon is inserted in the envelope, not inserted in the magazine so examine contents carefully before you pitch the envelope.
Should be interesting to see what parts are excluded from the $100. offer.

yeah, I got this coupon from PCA Panaroma (sp) too. It is is not in the Provinz. It stated Porsche genuine and classic parts, tequipment or Porsche Design accessories. $100 off 350.

It showed the brake pads and routers. Looking fwd on those parts. I will visit Pfaff next week (some 2 year minor service quoted $900!!!, will figure out what it includes) and will ask them about this coupon. I will come back post.

Just to close the loop on my previous post. I had the parts shipped from Suncoast Porsche to a mailbox in Niagara Falls, NY. Here are the total and complete costs to give others a comparison of US vs. Canada:

Quote from local Porsche dealer, after asking for their lowest price:

997 575 531 90 $112.07
997 575 532 90 $112.07
997 575 631 90 $25.15
997 575 632 90 $25.15
999 073 536 01 Unknown part no.
997 505 983 92 $374.24
Subtotal: CAD$648.68
Taxes: CAD$84.30
Total: CAD$732.98

Pricing from Suncoast Porsche

997 575 531 90 +
997 575 532 90 +
997 575 631 90 +
997 575 632 90 +
999 073 536 01 $179.95 (includes the part numbers above)
997 505 983 92 $205.55
Shipping to Niagara, NY $41.59
Subtotal: USD$427.09 / CAD$439.90 (credit card company charged me average of 1.03 on the conversion)
Taxes @ Canada Customs: CAD$79.55
Total: CAD$519.45

So there you have it. It took me 4hrs there and back, but I chose a stupid day to do it with March break families heading south and north of the border. Gas was about $52 because I borrowed John's Mini (great car btw!) so my total savings came in at $732.98 - 519.45 - 52.00 = $161.53. Whether that's worth 4hrs of your time is your decision. I had to go to the USA for another reason anyhow, so there wasn't that opportunity cost for me.

When I went to Canada Customs, I had prepared a spreadsheet with all the items, their value in US dollars, CAD dollars and each receipt attached. I was surprised they didn't charge any duties, but I think the Customs agent was pretty happy about the detailed list I gave her and my honesty
