Hilarious! I sold the 924 when our son was born, but kept the 951, I was due to sell the 924 anyway as I hadn't driven it in months since I got the 951 up to snuff. People asked if I was going to sell our daily driver Impreza to get a minivan or SUV! I was shocked, why would I sell a four door family car for a bigger four door family car when we have one kid? Crazy.

We did break down and buy the minivan after our 2nd was born... Darkest day of my life. A beige minivan. Oh well, I guess we have to have a washing machine too, right?

I'm 34 and have 2 kids. Bought the Porsche after the kids and now I get to enjoy it with them. Priceless. As long as I have one family hauler (got an Odyssey) in the stable, the others can be as impractical as ever. We bought an MDX when our first was born, and that was fine. After our second, we moved into the minivan as the all purpose hauler. It does family, Home Depot, visiting family, trips to the dump/recycling etc....my wife loves it and she primarily drives it during the week. I have the 911 and a 330cic so they balance out the fact that we have a minivan in the garage. What can I say, the vans are reliable, economical, and dependable. Exactly what I want in a family car.

By the way I got a "slow" 944 because I loved these cars to death when they came out in '83. Then I was 24 and couldn't put 40 grand on a car but I finally got this one in 2001. I don't care what people say, that it doesn't have the engine in the back and all the other crap that I hear.....What I know is that every time I open my garage door and see her my legs become weak and my heart rate rises ! I'm old enough to also remember that this car greatly helped save Porsche in the 80's.....

The only people who slam 944s are those who've never owned them 
I loved mine, though I don't like the 1st gen interiors. Sold it because it had been poorly maintained over its life, and I was sick of little things breaking all the time. But it sure was a fun car when everything worked. Comfortable highway cruiser, too.

Minivan would make a bit more sense, they seem to be miserly on fuel, and have lots of space, but the amount of teasing i've done to my bro-in-law who bought one 8 months after having their 1st kid would make it near impossible to show up at the family cottage in a minivan.

Got a good chuckle out of that! No worries, my winter car is an F-150. I hate driving trucks, hate what they look like, but they are just so damn convenient to have around. Great for hauling, wouldn't be without one, but on the "car guy" list of must haves, I'd say they are at the same level as a beige minivan.

Around here, they're at the top of the list. We can't keep F150s in stock. I hate trucks (I'm not a farmer or a construction worker, why would I need one? is my opinion) but they sell like crazy.
