993tt Canadian Importation Requirements
Hey Guys:
I am giving some thought to bringing in a 993TT from the USA and I was wondering if anyone knew what has to be done to meet Transport Canada requirements for this particular model. Thanks in advance. - Glenn

Also was told, when I was thinking about it, that C Tire was the best place to do the Canadianisation (running lights, stickers, etc.).
RIV site has an actual checklist to help guide you. Seems straightforward enough but does require some work...
Good luck.

Ffaust when I spoke to Porsche NA last Wednesday, they gave me a file number and said it was a requirement that the car be brought to a Porsche dealer to have them do the inspection and "Canadianisation" before they - Porsche NA - would issue the "recall letter" which, (the letter) is a requirement under the RIV rpogram. Cars over 15 years old are exempt from the manufacturer's recall letter. My GT3 is due a week from now for said inspection and fleecing....I mean review..

I read that the only cars that you need to get "inspected" at a Porsche Dealer in
Canada at the tune of $1200, are cars that still have factory warranty and/or
CPO. Otherwise it's a gouge and you do not have to do it. The advice is to make
the Recall Letter as a condition on the sale if you are buying from a US dealer. If
it's a private sale, you can request this letter during your PPI at a dealer.
Hope this helps.

That's what I did.
Get the DRL from a US dealer as well if you can.

I believe a 'job management report' which any dealer can print will satisfy the RIV's recall clearance requirement (and hence avoiding the $1,250 charge). Report is good for 30 days from the date of issue.

the last time I imported I got a letter form US dealer and the job management report and that satisfied RIV. That was 2008 though.

I have no idea on the price of the car you are looking at, etc. But, in case you want to avoid the headaches, there is a nice 993TT for sale locally in Toronto by a RL Member (no affiliation).
