If everything is on the up and up, the cop could have helped out by giving the good doc a police escort.

Moron police officer! another example of a cop on a power trip. and yeah he was doing 75 kmh maybe he should be charged with stunt driving or street racing!
oh yeah but the police need the ca$h grab!
Hopefully the officer needs surgery some time and the shoe is on the other foot!
thank god no one died here.

"To protect and serve" my ***. It's disgusting to think that there are missing children out there, criminals running free, and yet our police force is sitting at the side of the road waiting to catch the unwary motorists that pay their salary.

... I guess some police constables can't see past the ca$h grab, after all every ticket is a means of padding their wallets. The article indicates that the Doctor is going to fight the ticket... I'll bet the "good" Constable shows up!

What was wrong with the cop using his 'discretion' as stated in the Ontario Police Act? He could have issued a warning and off the good doctor goes understanding that he should keep it down a little. Everyone wins - the cop gets his warning across, the doctor understands the safety part of why he was stopped, the public are protected and the guy laying on the table get's the operation without too much delay. But no - we have to have Office Harda$$ on the job...

I bet this gets kicked out by the crown on the first appearance date as you just know the press will be there waiting...

I wonder if this is the same d!ck who pulled my wife over last night and gave her a $110 ticket for the license plate sticker being expired.... by 11 days.

I am puzzled as to how I'm going to raise my kids to have any respect for authority at all. The gov't can't run itself to save its life, our PM just declares a snow day when he doesn't feel like dealing with his problems, they borrow money to solve a deficit, and the police do little to keep our cities safe.

Your only hope Christien is the new Police Chief in Hamilton hasn't brought along a lot of his former bosses thinking as far as the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Hopefully he sees the real issues and starts taking care of such crime spots such as Gore Park and the downtown core instead of the head in the hands approach that good old Billy in Toronto takes where he says, 'we have no problems'.

Tell that to people who live with a higher crime rate that is covered up by City Council in Toronto. If you don't record 'everything' - then it's not a crime you see and therefore not on the record as a crime... Toronto math. Your fomer police chief in Hamilton was out of the same mould as Blair.

It seems simple to me. don't speed? I don't care for the limits either, however I hate the fines even more.

In this case it was a surgeon on way to an emergency, so a little more speed was appropriate. Clear lack of judgement from the officer.

Default Real Sad

Unreal...no other comment.

Stepped out for lunch and saw on channel CP24 they had an officer and lawyer debating...too bad there was no volume.

Really interested to see how the officer was defending this.

From cp24.com:

Should doctors be allowed to break traffic laws to respond to a medical emergency in hospital?
Yes 65%
No 28%
Undecided 6%
