H1N1 shot
After the GTG i stopped at the Halton Regional Centre on Bronte Road and along with about 200 other folks got vaccinated. It took 15 minutes to get the shot + another 15 mins. obligatory waiting period after and you know what? I didn't cry.

Yeah I got the H1N1, Flu & Pneumonia Shot last Monday. On Wednesday I woke up with a bad migraine and felt slightly sick-ish until Saturday. Other people I know also had weak symptoms from the shot, chills & headache. Then again I just overloaded my immune system and I figure the added safety is worth it.

I got my shot two and a half weeks ago. It was interersting to note that while everyone was being asked the same questions at three different stations, parents and siblings of new borns and toddlers were getting the shot without much being asked of then. I believe the resaoning was since the new born and toddlers cann't get the shot, they wanted to ensure that the family members were inoculated against the virus.

We all got it a week or so ago, no symptoms for me whatsoever except a sore spot at the injection site, which I always get with the flu shot. Stef's arm was really sore for about 36 hrs, but nothing else. Kids were fine.

Shot is safe, but doesn't have the long safety record of the seasonal flu vaccine to back it up.
One (the only?) advantage of heading the Infection control service at our hospital is that I had a nurse bring the shot to me.
A few chills and muscle pains are common, and don't mean anything sinister. And some small kids (under 6) seem to develop fever 5 to 7 days after the shot, also with no real ill effects.

this whole swine flu thing has got be the biggest over reaction in health care i've ever seen. the vast majority of people who have spent the time/effort/pain/mild side effects to get/endure the h1n1 vaccine were only ever likely to get mild symptoms akin to the seasonal flu if they had contracted the "swine" flu. chill out gents, instead of wasting time getting the shot, go out and drive your car before the snow comes.....

It's a Gmo product to boot. Absolutely no way they are going to put any of that S$$t in me. You can find plenty of interesting reading on the net. Here is one example...
