Default Simulate Mosport During Those Cold Winter Months

http://www.iracing.com/

They have mosport available for play. Looks like a cool concept. 8 bucks a month times November, December, January, February = 32 bucks. Less than the cost of a console game.

I'd be up for this. Maybe weekly rennlist races? I didn't see Mosport in their tracks, but that's ok - lots of other good tracks - the Glen, Laguna Seca.

They don't have Mosport or many cars that I would even want to race, lots of oval tracks. Also it is much more to play iracing then 8/month. You pay for each track and each car.

The best racing sim out there is GTR2 $19.99. Then download the ALMS mod.

See what it would cost for us all to buy the same car, track, etc. per month.

So $12 for a car, $12 for a track = $24 (presumably that's one-time, not per month, right?) up front, then $14/month after that. That's still ok, if it turns out to be a fun yet realistic sim/game. My problem so far is that most of the games are too unrealistic, while most of the sims aren't that much fun. Though admittedly I don't have "the latest" in computer technology or consoles, so I haven't tried any of the newer stuff, in particular Forza 2 or 3.

Mosport is being released later this week, along with the Corvette CR.6 and the Dallara Indy Car.

If you are at all serious about sim racing do yourself a great big favor and give iRacing a shot. No, it's not cheapest way to race virtually, but seldom is it the case that the highest quality product comes at the cheapest cost. Give it a test drive and you will understand the hype.

I looked at didn't see any short-term trial, even a single race. Any idea what lag time is like in the real world? I've got a fairly decent cable modem connection, but certainly nothing like a campus or corporate mega-super-duper-high-speed connection.

lag is non existent in the real world now. Don't even bother if you have dial up. You can use fraps to check your framerate. Don't even bother if you PC and vid card can't do 60 fps with at least 720p resolution.

I guess I would be in to do it if there was enough interest. Don't like the fact that you have to start out driving rookie cars since in the real world my car blows them away and in the sim world I run much nicer cars then my real world car. Racing is to slow in rookie land. Another downside is no Porsches but I would like to drive the new CR6.
I would end up blowing a lot of money on tracks since I love all all them except the ovals.

Those screenshots look REALLY good - probably the most accurate I've ever seen, though of course it has to be driven to determine it for sure. But if the actual driving is as accurate as it seems, I'd be happy to pay for that.
