For me, working on a vehicle, be it 2 or 4 wheels or a set of wings is great therapy. I'm thoroughly enjoying this and this purchase has been a great motivator, in fact, I laid down my crutches for the first time when I first viewed Albert's 993 on the Labour Day weekend.
Forget detailing the car, how do you detail these:

2003 BMW R1150 GS Adventure / 1990 BMW R100 GS / 1986 BMW R80 G/S Paris Dakar / 2002 Kawasaki KLR 650.

Supremely jealous of your '03 1150. Have you seen Long Way Round or Long Way Down? I guarantee you'll hop on your bike after watching those.

Any pictures of the bikes?

Simple....patience and a love for your machines. I find detailing relaxing...gives me time to think.

I've been using an incredible water based degreaser since 1986 when I had a chain driven (aka messy) Suzuki RG 500 Gamma. There is no better product than Swish Factro AT 30.

I use a 1" pure bristle sash brush (the blue plastic handled Rubbermaid ones from Wal-Mart) with heat shrink around the metal band so that there is no chance of it scratching anything. I also have a slew of my favourite tooth brushes.

You should have seen the KLR 650 after I got back from my Eastern Canada - Trans Labrador Highway tour; it included 1100 kms of gravel with some of it in rain.

Yes I have; I have the 10 episode DVD of the Long Way Round. I met Charlie Boorman at the TO bike show a few years ago; got a pic with him.

I've heard that the Long Way Down wasn't as good.

I also had a 04 R1150 GS Adventure that I kept in Europe, but it got written off this past June after some young kid on a effing cell phone rammed into the back of me while I was stopped for the car ahead of me I spent the rest of my vacation in a hospital in Austria and then with family. One month of waiting till my flight back home. Well at least I got to do some shopping; I bought a new Schuberth Concept 2 helmet while there. Accident report here.

I've toured Europe and the Alps for the last 15 years in a row and plan to expand my horizons to include Africa, Asia and Iceland.

Funny thing is, with 3 BMWs and 1 Kawasaki in the garage...its the Kawasaki that hasn't been used since August of 2003...there is something wrong with it, but since I have reliable BMWs, I haven't wasted any time thinking about the Kawasaki.

Sorry, but that must have hurt!
