Rarely do I actually read about a story that is actual street racing.

Those cars must have stealth paint.... it's screwing up the radar gun.

honestly, cars made to go fast can stop even faster -- if the two racing were in porsches it's a lot safer than two honda civics. Not justifying the action .. but the quote from the cop on thi story said braking from 200kph to 70kph takes about 7 seconds.

At the last DE event, one of the instructors said that for all the go horsepower of these cars, they have about 800hp of braking power.
Which is why I get p/o when a soccer mom in a sports ute wants to tailgate me.

So you lend your younger brother your car to go for a cruise, and he comes home and tells you "Your car was impounded, can I borrow $3000 for the fines and another few hundred for the impound to have your car released in 7 days? And can you drive me there, because I lost my lisence? Oh wait, you don't have a car."

I've always been more impressed by the ability of a Porsche to brake, rather than accelerate. Sure, the acceleration's fun, especially with turbo boost, but the braking makes your brain feel like it's going through the windshield.
No way it takes 5 seconds to slow from 200 to 70. If it did, we'd all be braking at turn 7. More like1 second in a Porsche, maybe 2 or 3 in a standard road car.
But far be it for the police to let reality and truth get in the way of a good media story...
