Default Damn Porsche Crest fell off again.

Cheap cheap flimsy crap.

This time it happened while washing the car today. So I still have it and am trying to crazy glue it on now. I doubt it will work any good metal glues out there?

It looks like the bolts are glued unto the backing of the crest in the first place. They are not one piece thats for sure.

There is a two part epoxy you can buy at ctc that I can't remember the brand name - it comes in an orange tip tube and the harder in a black tip tube that is like a metal epoxy. You can even tap, drill into or cut threads in the stuff. It will never come off and sticks to anything.

Are you talking about your hood crest?

I used J B Weld to reattach the crests on my wheel center caps, and they've held for two years.

yes the hood crest. After trying the crazy glue gel, it doesn't want to come off now. So maybe it will work. I stressed it a few times and it seems ok.

Automotive trim adhesive in black or clear at an auto parts store would work well.

Thats the brand Aron, thanks - althought I use the orange/black instead of the red/black.
The orange/black is more shade tree friendly:
It you don't need higher tensile strength then 2100psi but need a 4 minute set/4 hour cure, I'd go with this option and it's good up to 300F which should ok under your bonet!!

But for this appl - you might also consider an RTV product (GE seem to have the widest range of auto products) in the outside case that you don't want it really permanent.

If this is like the crests on the older cars with the stamped "speed" nuts, those nuts are one-time use only and should be replaced (few cents a piece only).

I would be loathe to epoxy it on. WAAYY too permanent IMO.

I agree...new speed nuts, or press ons.

No the lugs are attached to the back of the crest. The back of the crest has 2 small circular indentations where the lugs attach to. The crest then fits onto the hood through 2 holes in the hood and are fastened with nuts are on the underside of the hood.
I only glued the lugs to the crest. I didn't affix the crest to the hood it self.

My concern with that would be thieves - if someone wants the crest and they come at it with a knife or screwdriver, you're going to have some major damage to your hood (read: bodywork), whereas with just the nuts it would pop off much more easily. I'd much rather pay the $50 for a new crest than a few hundred for bodywork.

Oops! Sorry for the mis-interpretation!
