Short shifter vs Stock shifter
I have heard some discussion about short shifters, I guess there are few out there I should stay away from . What should I look for.

Just get the B&M one, it's the same as stock.

I have a B&M that is already mounted to the console that I would be willing to sell. PM me if interested. I can email you a pic.
Cheers.

+1 for B&M. I also got it from Bumperplugs. Eric is great to deal with.
Easy DIY install and is a great improvement over the floppy stock unit.

Anybody read the thread about shift kits on Renntech? Apparently there are some strong recommendations against?

Ditto on B&M from Eric the plug guy who sells them cheap. Courtney at EU Autowerks popped it in on one of the GTG guy's recommendation. I'm not a DIY'er but the install is quick and cheap too. Forget the negative press; this is one quick and benign mod that you won't look back from.

Huh?...post a link to that thread, please. I'd be surprised if there was a problem with them since you can factory order your Porsche with the SSK.

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
You guys talking about 996s & 997s & sloppy shifting. You've obviously never driven a 911 with a 915.

sorta like driving a bus. I don't know how you guys do it. I would always be worried about putting it in the wrong gear.
I have the B&M and evo linkage. I love it. Though I think the 997 GT3 shifter can also be used.

Oh, and I saw the post on Renntech a bit ago but do you think I can find it now? Having said all of this, there doesn't appear to be a HUGE concern, but there are 'issues'......
