Students not allowed to sing Oh Canada...

I sing and play for a living, and I would hate having to sing or play any song repeatedly,
every f@#n everyday.
It's only a song. I don't have to sing it to show I love and respect this great Country,
or love anything, or anyone, for that matter.
Just my opinion.
Now back to my recording studio and work on more music.

I remember as a kid we sung Oh Canada before movies and it was kinda fun. Then there was the 2 minute cartoon, no commercials & the trailers.
Ah memories.
If they stop singing it at sports venues, that will be the last straw. I thought about this a little more, and if my kids went to school there, I'd encourage them to get some friends together and sing it anyway.
Imagine. Singing the national anthem is an act of rebellion in that school.
Ah memories.

I'm not saying we should make the kids sing the anthem, but at least respect it by listening to it with morning announcements, at the start of a sporting event, etc is not an outrageous request.
Whether or not the families opposed to the anthem are new immigrants, or just idiots is really not the issue here.
Where is our pride?
We live in one of the top 5 places to live in the world...and dammit we should be proud. So should our children.
Next thing you know, there won't be the an anthem at the olympics for fear we might upset someone.
And yes, that girl was upset about the loss of a family member in Afganistan...and singing the anthem daily helped her remember and honour his supreme sacrifice for his country.

I was told the anthem was always played at the first showing of the day at all movie theatres. I haven't been to a matinee in a long time so not sure if they do it.
since Canada has never won gold on Canadian soil in Olympics we run the risk of not hearing Oh Canada next year at the Olympics.
Oh Canada and our flag are pretty much the only things we share with all Canadians...it deserves respect and to be taught, sung in school.
