996 with 430,000+ km
Ok I admit it, my Targa is a bit of a garage queen ... well this morning I met its antithesis. My car is hibernating in my office bldg, I was checking on her first thing today when a new guy in the bldg. pulls in with his 2000 C2.
Started chatting ... he has 430,000+ km on his car, drives it every day. He services the car regularly, has changed the clutch once and other than the usual (tires, etc.) has had no major problems. Car looks in great shape
He's a pca member already. I encouraged him to join Rennlist and come out to the Saturday meets.

Has he replaced RMS?
Does he drive it hard?
Pics would be great!
Did he ever paint it?

wow that IS high. I guess the more you drive it, the longer it lasts.
I find that commuter cars (50K/year), tend to last longer with much less issues than those only driven on occasion. For example: My '00 Jetta TDI has 420 000km and the valve cover had never been openned, only changed the timing once (due for another one) and the original clutch lasted till last Chrismtas (370 000km), the turbo is still original but the paint is pretty beat up.

a guy on the 993tt forum has a 97 tt with 234k miles on it, almost the same mileage. here's what he has done to it:-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Items replaced (best as can remember)...
hydraulic lifter (x2: 40K, 90K)
fourth set of Bilstein HD's
fuel pump (around 190K)
alternator (somewhere over 200K)
signal tree
slave cylinder/accumulator (original clutch though...)
windshield (X3)
litronic headlights (bulbs X2, lens)
brake pads/rotors (225K)
stock except ROW springs/TechFx exhaust
original turbos

Went to see if I could find him, but he's gone for the day. Apparently he puts on 50 - 75,000 km per year (guess that's why he wasn't there when I went back). Doesn't drive the car real hard, but does drive it and loves it. Religious about maintenance, oil changes, etc. no RMS issue, original paint ... does have a clear bra on the car.
He figures he'll reach 500,000 km late in '09 when he will approach Porsche Canada about something - photos, an article ...
