it is a 2 car garage, but tandem. It's 38 ft deep by 11 wide. The VW cabriolet sleeps in the back every winter. Tires on the wall are my winter set-up (Pirelli Snowsport 240). I used 242 tiles to do that part of the garage and I'll need another 160 to finish.

Looks great Phil. Almost hard to believe those tiles could hold the weight of a car given how thin and flexible they are ... strength in numbers I guess. Great job

 

So Phil, with winter in full bloom has the floor 'performed' as expected ?? This past week my garage has become a pool of slurry (it runs down from the back wall and then in from the outside garage door - not fun to trudge through unless wearing hip waders !) and I've been considering spring projects to avoid having to endure this again next winter.

 

Can you put these tiles in a trailer? I mean, safely, not haphazardly.

The floor is dirty from all the crud that the car has been dragging in this winter, but it will just rinse away in the spring. There is never any standing water on the tiles when the "fenderbergs" fall off and melt. The water seeps below the tiles and eventually drains down the slope of the garage. I'm very happy as it's a lot cleaner and drier than it use to be in winters past.

 

That's good to hear Phil. I've wanted to do Racedeck type tiles for a while but was always afraid of mold/mildew growing underneath. Any problems with that as far as you can see?

 

No problems that I can see. Whatever water doesn't drain out the garage, would evaporate through all the little vent grooves in the tiles. When it was really cold, I could feel that some of the water had turned to ice underneath the floor and crunched a bit when I drove over.

 

Thanks for sharing these amazing photos Phil. At that price (under $2.00 a tile) a cost of under $600 will allow me to stencil on the PORSCHE block lettering at the entrance of the garage for that unique touch. How did you come up with the colour combination/pattern ? Too bad they don't carry the tiles in a nice gold/yellow colour (Schwarz/Rot/Gold Porsche Crest colours).

 

How do you find these to walk on? I have these in my laundry room and they click and clack when I walk on them.

 

yup, they do that when you drive on them too.
