That's very similar to the line Rick Bye demonstrated in my car a number of years ago, except he really squares off the corner at 5b...you can see that one on the UCR Driver Ed page...

I can definitely see the different treatment of 5b. I would be cool to see which line is ultimately quicker through there. Rick's line looks like the shorter distance, but perhaps more braking to make that very square turn.
