for the PCA DE's I remove it, but I simply forget the rest of the time. It's really not in my field of vision...it's tiny (1.5" screen) and it sits right above the mirror. Doesn't show the turns at mosport, but it does show the actually speed!

Default Hey Phil

I could have sworn the camera mount was on the front windshield? Did you end up mounting it on the rear window instead?

Hi Al,
yeah I tried several spots in the car. My intention is to eventually edit it all together and intercut between the various angles....as I pass you!

I think I've finally got a camera/mount combination that I'm happy with. I'm now using the Aiptek HD-1080P camera (~$190) and the Woods Power Grip Cleat vacuum mount (~$40). The video, sound and ease of use are excellent with this combination; the things I really like:

- Camera produces video up to 1080p @ 30fps or 720p @ 60fps
- Camera has an external LCD screen which makes positioning the camera super easy
- Microphone seems to be able to handle the vibrations and/or the mount is isolating them sufficiently
- Mount is super-sturdy and easy to adjust
- Vacuum indicator lets you know if the mount is on correctly

I had the chance to drive a friend's car for a few laps around Dunnville and tested the camera out. Here is a slightly downgraded and compressed version: www.fcracer.com/dunnville-farzaan-997C4S.mov

This was recorded in 720p @ 30fps hanging upside down from the rear window. Next time, I want to try 1080p @ 30fps. I also recorded the video onto a DVD and it looks great!
