If what that petition is saying is correct, and I believe it is, then all it's going to take to repeal this law is one person challenging it on charter grounds. If thousands of people have been charged under this law so far, surely someone has an appeal in the works, no?

 

i came back from niagara this weekend and everyone across all 3 or 4 lanes was doing 135-160 on the 406, 403 and QEW (i was flashed at for doing 148 in the 2nd from the left lane as other people wanted to go around).

there was no carnage and people didn't spontaniously crash or cars explode (even the Eagle Talons didn't :P )

you are likely right.....it's been a long time since my Charter of Rights course....but I remember the notwithstanding clause to read something along the lines of : Charter rights can be infringed upon by law as long as that action does not bring the administration of justice into disrepute......or something along those lines anyway.....there is an escape clause, but you are correct, it has to be challenged and taken to the supreme court likely to get thrown out.....we need a good Charter lawyer to lose his ride for week.....lol.

Anyway, I figured theres no harm done in signing the petition because it's saying they are violating our rights, not that we have a right to drive at 150+....
