Default Protecting your windshield from pitting.

Ok, I ran accross a post in the GT3/2 forum. I thought I'd pass it on.

I wish I had used this stuff on my windshield when it was new. I hate my windshield now.

I had my windscreen done on my TT, it is OEM and cost to install was just uner $900.00.
PM and I can try and find the invoice for the installers name.

The film that is used for windshields is an outdoor film, often called vandal film. 6 mil PET with a low adhesion modulus. It gets machine cut on a plotter with a cutter head instead of an ink pot. Some of the shops that do paint protection would have the machine and the program to cut the plastic.

FWIW I asked my supplier about this and here's the skinny. A beta test is determining the suitability of the product for our climate. Concerns are: longevity vs. cost, issues are ice scrapping on soft plastic, grit from sand and ice, cold/hot cycling of defroster and potential to stress the windshield.

A project more interesting and up my alley is the development of a security tint film for the side windows. Release expected Sept/Oct-08.
