They only require the airbag stickers to be bilingual and as posted above, they cost $5 at Canadian Tire. You can stick them on the sun visor and peel them off as soon as the federalization is done.

My 928 is a US spec car and so is my father’s Miata. I bought then both in the states and brought through customs at Fort Erie and it was a piece of cake. Those who never imported a car think that it’s difficult, when in fact it only takes maybe 20 min to do the paperwork at the border. The rest is pretty much the same as registering a Canadian used car. You do it once, see how simple it really is and will ask yourself ”why didn’t I do this before?”

As much as Quebec is neck deep in bureacracy, special forms and red tape in general.... $2500.... if that was case, I think this would make BIG waves.

Even a French Supremist is not willing to pay $2500 for a french sticker made in Quebec.
That is what I am told by a senior head office person I am in regular contact with. It came about during a discussion on the differences between Canadian market and US market cars and the differences in them. It has more to do with the correct translation from english to french. I couldn't believe it but this person is very well connected to the top and it is something the manufacturers have tried to address but it is falling on deaf ears in Ottawa. Our Finance Minister tells us to take advantage of the higher currency and invest in new technology but I think you would agree a huge leap in cost savings could be made by eliminating this practise.

I've imported 3 vehicles from the U.S. and have never added the French labels.
But was required to add a rear seat tether for a child seat in my Boxster. Go figure!!

I've imported two vehicles ... never needed french stickers.

I printed some up and was ready to scotch-tape them on
if they requested it, but nobody ever did.

For the many times that I've traded cars, I found that options never get a higher trade-in prices...

This is part of what is ridiculous about "Canadian Market Vehicles".

If they are manufactured for Canada, on shore or off shore, the manufacturers of said vehicles have to pay a ransom, er tax, to some cretin in Quebec to ensure the label is supplied correct and translated properly. This cost's the manufacturers $2,500 CAD for each car and it is law.

If Joe consumer buys a vehicle in the US and has it imported to Canada, there are no requirements for this, yet. Manufacturers get creamed by all sorts of taxes here in Canada, a lot of which are hidden, and it makes it hard to compete globally.

Sorry, I will get off the soap box now and look forward to the Spring driving season.

Is anybody sure that the stickers are $2500? I find that hard to believe
