Both are "reasonable" $. Also, for both, you can eat at the bar for faster in/out.

Also try the huge custom made Italian sandwiches (5$ tax included) at La botega (in the market on George st). The sandwich bar is way at the back of this big Italian grocery store. Line moves fast - they have 3 people making them a noon. pickle 1$. Eat on a seat or bench outside or in the rideau centre in winter...

Great suggestions, thanks.

However, should I trust a dude in a mask?

That Italian sandwich in the summer seating outside sounds pretty good!
I think I know where George st. is (crosses D'alhousie ?)

I should try it next Wednesday.

Deer kill with a Porshe? Not fun!
PSM and AWD on my C4S should keep my knucles pink, but sometimes
the devil in you dares your right foot just for fun.

No. It happened in 1983 with a '82 Chev Mailbu Wagon. Deer dead. Car dead. I was very happy to be driving a full size car. With the scoop front on a 911, a full front hit like I had would not have been pretty.

Thanks.
I will try Hwy 7 one of these days if I have extra time.
Do you live in Ottawa?

I currently live in both Ottawa and Trenton. I work in Trenton and have a place here but have a lot of time off so I go back to Ottawa often, where I grew up, to visit friends and the folks.

As for the blue cactus and the live music. I don't think they do. It's a restaurant at the beginning of the night and then turns into a bit of a martini bar later on from what I remember. They have good drinks but not the cheapest. I don't go there anymore, not really my crowd.

Elgin street is a bit of a zoo on weekend nights, not to sure what your age group is so you may or may not like it.

If you ever need service or a part while in Ottawa I recommend these guys:
www.autoimport.ca
They know their porsches and usually have a fair amount of parts in stock. They also carry some of the more exotic oils that some people seem to love.

If you have anymore questions I will try to answer them,
Cheers!

It's not just a "mask"! It's the Porsche of masks (Outdoor Research Gore Wind Stopper Gorilla) LOL

George Street runs parallel, and is one street over, to Rideau street. La Bottega is towards the Sussex St end of the Market. Not far from the McDonald's.

http://www.labottega.ca/locationContact/

Stella is really fabulous but will cost you more:
http://www.stellaosteria.ca/site/index.html

Empire Grill has great option and the warm beef salad is probably the best quality/price deal in the market:
http://www.empiregrill.com/index.html
Brunch is fabulous at their sister restaurant (located inside/below 700 Sussex condos) Get the stuffed French Toast :
http://www.metropolitainbrasserie.com/

Sushi is at Kinky:
http://www.kinki.ca/

If you want to spend a lot and stay in the market area (reservations for dinner):

Social - great night life too (lounge):
http://www.social.ca/

More upscale is eighteen (at 18 York Street):
http://www.restaurant18.com/

I've got more if you need!
All of the above are within walking (1-3 blocks) of each other.

cheers

I almost forgot:

The Timothy's World Coffee place (chain store) located on George street (at Sussex) just across from the chapters makes fabulous sandwiches (much better than the usual Timothy's). Often they get soup for the Chef at The Social (almost next door on Sussex) for lunch. This is different then the generic soup usually served and is way cheaper then getting it at Social. Timothy's is is not far from La Bottega but here you get a place to sit, magazines and news paper to read. You can then run across the street to the Chapter's to read the Excellence Porsche magazine :-) sandwich plus salad or soup is around 10$ with tax. NO FOOD on weekends at Timothy's

"Often they get soup for the Chef at The Social" correction: Often they get soup **FROM** the Chef at The Social

Thanks for the info ( you just got me hungry too)
I can't remember the turnoff name, but there is one exit before napanee (Flying J) if traveling eastbound. Go south and you will find a Sunoco station.

Another good place to eat is Mamma Theresas!

It's easy to get Sens tickets. A lot of games are sold out on that day. Not a big season ticket base like Toronto

Thanks for the info.
I also worked in Trenton at the CFB (Canadian Forces Base).
I performed a concert with 3 stages for their bi-anual air show.

I used to perform regularly at the Ramada Inn in Belleville (14 Km from Trenton)

Age group is mid 40's, younger or older is fine, but I avoid the mentally imbalanced, regardless the age.

Thanks a zellion for all the goody-goodies!
I looked around for some mentioned places, but I could not see much because
I was with my daughter, and she is too younge.

I will be limited to family oriented places.
However, sooner or later I will check some of these places out.

Excellence magazine is one of my favorites!

Actually, I have been averaging 720 Km per tank in these long trips.
I keep it at around 115Km/hr, which is a crime in a 911, but a lesser one.

If anyone ever wants to build a race track from Toronto to Ottawa, I'm in.
Nothing like a 1hr and 1/2 trip from Toronto to Ottawa in a 911 at
close to 300 Km/hr.

OOOH! WAITE: I would have to gas up a couple of times?

I think the exit you are talking about is exit 526. There is a Sunoco Station right there. It's in Trenton On. Flying J is around exit 579, which is to say 53km later.

I took some pics (and videos) last Sunday around the Market and the Gatineau hills. It was the perfect fall day with fabulous colors. I also took pics of some of the restaurants. I'm just learning Rogers new Photo site (FlickR) - not user friendly at all. See:

Great pics MM!
I was just on my way out but browsed through a few.
I love your taste in decorating your room, and the South wall (sunset?)
has exquisite shadows that combine well with your painting.

This is the area I go for walks with my daughter every Wednesday and
Thursday.
Maybe we will meet over there sometime.
John
