The choice......
Ok, just curious and want to know what the Canadian's think.
You are on your driveway and their appear two cars.
One is a brand new 2007 Z06 vette and the other is a slightly used 2005 997s
Leaving our love in for the P car aside, which would you take first for a ride?

If you are driving it on the street, I'd go for the 997 because of the superior tactile feedback from the controls (steering, brakes, etc.). If it were on a racetrack, I'd take the Z06 because I don't care about feel then, all I care about is outright laptimes and the Z06 is tough to beat in that environment.

The Z06. The 997S is great but not superior to the Z06 in any way, not even close but if it were a 997 GT3 or TT then my choice would change. I can honestly say that this Z06 is the only Corvette I would ever consider buying.

The reason I asked is of course I was planning to pick up a 997s, but my neighbour picked up a 07 Z06 and being good friends I took it for a few spins. Now I have driven decently fast cars before, 996TT's, 993TT's, but I was amazed at the performance for a factory car. It easily had the pull of the 427rat 69 camaro that I had, but seemed to out handle either TT hands down. Coming out of some of the track corners, the instant on torque was wild and not as easy to break out as I thought. Before driving it, I had thought there would be no grip and the TT's would have the edge. Not a chance IMHO. The sound of a 911 is worth the price of admission, but open up the Z and it sounds like NASCAR (not sure if that is good or bad).
Now, the big problem is it's built by Chev and it looks and feels like a Chev. Will it hold its value or feel like a good deal 3 or 4 years from now? I don't know. But for a car that's half the price of a new TT, not bad!

the new zo6, I've driven both, the new zo6 is THE performance car of the moment short of supercars like Carrera GT etc
I've seen stockers at the drag strip running low 11's on drag radials, while I'm sure nobody hear feels the drag strip is a good indication of a sports car, it's definatley an indication of the power it holds. 6 piston calipers up front, completely set suspension, i'll tell you no 911 can hold it's own against that kind of strength, 911 all the way to gt3 rs. It is untouchable.
...and please, if you haven't driven one, it's easy to think the 911 is a better car...I've driven a bone stock c6 zo6 and a GT3 rs...minus quality the 911 does not have enough...period
