Can anybody recommend a shop in the gta to roll my rear fenders.

i believe you can rent tools for rolling fenderlips from tirerack.

that said, you are sure you want to do this? i've had several cars with rolled lips have experienced cracked paint in most cases.

one of the guys on our race team has a fender roller...i'm probably going to roll my fronts in the not to distant future...ur welcome to come join us at the same time.

no charge...but u're responsible for any ill-effects that come from it, cracked paint..whatever the case may be.

Hey Golf guy was that your yellow 993 turbo that Alon is driving now ? it looked like it was rusting where the fenders had been rolled and the paint had cracked .... if it was Alon should post a pic .. a reason to be VERY carefull if this is your plan . Personally I think fender lips are there to add structural integrity to the metal work. Rolling weakens the whole aea.

ya i guess i can deal with a little rub here and there since nothing is being damaged when the rubbing occurs.

Apparently you can use a heat gun to warm the paint before rolling - helps reduce paint cracking.

So fender rolling is when you actually roll out/curve the "vertical" piece of the fender around the wheel well?

no rolling is done by rolling the inside lip of the fender so when the wheel heads up into the wheel well from a bump or sharp turn it does not make contact with the inside lip of the fender.

So, pardon my ignorance, but the inside of the wheel well is plastic so how would that affect the paint? I'm confused, does anyone have a picture of what you are actually rolling?

go outside and take a look at ur dad's 997.
look just on the inside of the fender..u'll see an edge that is 90 degrees to the fender arch..its that little piece that gets rolled

Ohhhhh! Gotcha', before when I heard guys 'rolling' fenders I thought they were rolling back and taking out the plastic in the wheel well. Thanks man.

yes Alon's 993tt was previously mine but i'm talking about cracked paint around the fenderwells on my racecar (integra type-r).

Anyone have problems with rolling fenders on a 987S? I want to put some spacers on and I am a bit nervous about rubbing....

you'll have better response to this question in the boxster forum here on RL or 6speedonline. i went with a spring and wheel setup that a RL member had tested.

you can always do a test fit with spacers on your 987 before buying new wheels or lowering it. if you are close to the fenderwell lips, dialing in a bit of negative camber often does the trick.

have a look at the wheel offset calculator on www.1010tire.com to get an idea of how much wheel clearance changes with new wheels. i went fairly aggressive on my 997 wide body (+5mm on the front and +14mm on the rears) and there's still another 5mm of clearance.
