The Fiorano comment made me laugh .. I had a similar experience once and felt " honoured" they would work on my 944. try Henry .. I hear good things and new him when he worked at DTFC.

Aha! Henry's da man. I'll bring it in next week!

Anyone know anything about tranny swaps? Was Mario telling the truth about rubber mounting doohickeys? Should I be trying to scrounge some up or just tell him to use the existing ones?

The tranny mount is not cheap (for manuals anyway), but I would definitely replace it, as sooner or later, the 20+ year old rubber is going to show its wear - although it does not live as hard a life at the motor mounts (exhaust side esp.)

For a manual car, the swap is really very easy all things considered. There would be a bit more work for an auto, disconneting the cooling lines etc., but still pretty easy. A shop with a lift will find the job even easier.

I think the actual process of doing the swap is pretty straightforward, but a bunch of the bolts seem to be stuck real good ... I think there's gonna have to be some serious working of those little bastards.

Had that with mine ... if they snap as they usually do ... can be a bitch. Most shops farm out the work to independant shops such as HPCARS, etal as it is a bother to them. My mounts need to be replaced and will be done just before it goes in for storage ...

Try courtney/Domenic at Autowerks again, and leave a message when propmted. It's not usually like them to not get back to you.

I'll mention it to Dom on Monday, and if you want, IM me your contact information and I will put it in the right hands personally.

I wasn't able to get through to leave a message. EU Autowerks seems gone (phone number out of service, email bounced back), and Weltmeister's voice mail box is full.

I'll PM you, tho. Thanks.

I tried that phone number and got a "not in service" message, and the email I sent to that address bounced back.

Speaking of "out of service" - drove by Weltmeister the other day (was just driving by) and it looks they are GONE.

Anyone know the scoop? I'd only really heard negative things (but no personal experience) but always interested in knwoing what happened.

Anyone? Bueller?
