Default + The tire thread +

Some of you may have read my "alingment" thread do to wondering all over the place on my new Sumitomo.
A member started a thread on the SUMIs and there are others who have experienced the samething as me....to soft sidewall = crap!

So, I have to start all over my quest for good tire with firm sidewalls this time.
I had bought the SUMIs based on many reviews witch were all good...go figer.

I'm looking for 255/40/17 and 225/45/17. What is your favorite (or worst)?

Start off with what you want to spend. Because that will make a huge difference . Cheap tires will give you cheap results for the most part.

I have RE 050 . They are a good tire at a good price, I do not track the car but do not get any wandering at all. Wider fronts could cause this however .. did you go wider than your previous tire ?

Interesting you say that ...I did(205 to 225 front / rear the same as previous 255) BUT I had some goodyear MS in fall and spring that were 225/50/16 all around and they were not that bad. What I have now is HORRIBLE. I have tried presure from 40psi to 48 psi, same thing. I hate wasting money, it was based on reviews, you can't imagine how pissed off I am right now.

ps; I used to have Poteza SO2(front) and SO3(rear), talke about good tire.

Default I just installed.....

Toyo T1R's, and so far I really like them. No wandering, good feel, sticky......sizes are 205 and 245 / 16's.....replaced a set of Fuzions...no comparison.

I currently run SO3's all around. Good tires, but not N rated and now discontinued by Bridgestone. My mind is all set for my replacement tires: MICHELIN PS2. Expensive, but well worth it in my opinion.

Bridgestone Fuzion is very close to the SO-2 (made in Japan).... I have had them on the 951 for close to 3 years now. They ran great on the track at Shannonville. Toyo's 4 I had on before were ****e ... Fuzion are far better!

Where do you guys get your tires?

In the near future my Dad will need new Michelin Pilot Sport's @ 305/30/19 & 235/35/19

I know the U.S. members use Tirerack and no way in hell I'll use Pfaff.

I've got Pirelli P6000 for street and Toyo RA1s for track. The difference is night and day, when I'm pushing the car. The P6000 is one of the few high-performance tire options available for 15" wheels (I've got 7x15 front and 8x15 rear fuchs, one set each for street and track). The Pirellis are fine for regular street driving but slip like crazy at Mosport compared to the RA1s, although the Pirellis seem to have less difference between wet and dry conditions, where as the Toyos grip way better in the dry. Not that they're bad in the wet, just so superior in the dry.

I am fond of the Fuzion as well.....good quality as a very reasonable price. If $$ were no object I would go with P-Zeros.

Considering the current exchange rates, I would go with Tirerack. I have done so a few month ago (group buy with Phil, total of 10 tires between the 2 of us) and it was super easy and super fast. We had the tires delivered to Auto Werks directly and installed there. Let me know whenever you are ready to order, I need to order 4 x new 235/35/19 for my souped-up VR6.

Just a quick illustration on a Michelin PS2 235/35/ZR19:
Tiretrends: CA$487.41
Costco: CA$489.99 (installed)
Tirerack: US$319.00

Add 7% Duty on the Tirerack price and a bit of shipping, you are still way ahead of the game..

Well, I will be testing my Sumi's at lower 40psi (I was running 48psi) for the next few days and see what happens.

But I'm leaning towards the BF Goodrich g-Force T/A® KDW II

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....ce+T%2FA+KDW+2

I have read many review of buyers using them for track as well as street.
So if they are good for track they should be good for street.
Anyone as had experience with dose?
