Another new member!
If you've visited the 997 forums you'd probably see that I just bought an '06 Carrera S Cab. about a month ago. I live at the very North End of Brampton bordering Caledon. So when the weather warms up what are some events? Cruises, AutoX? , track days etc.
I'm personally loving these 'warm' days!

The track days are run at mosport by the club. ( pcaucr) but there are a few guys who sponsor some days now and then. if tracking is your pleasure start there.
we have been getting together Saturday mornings at Chapters opposite sherway gardens ( cars out back ) the group is actually growing pretty rapidly and Chapters may need to pu on an extention. Not sure who is going the next couple of weeks due to the holidays but it is becoming pretty regular for most. That is a good place to start anyway.
Welcom aboard ....

Where I got it? That's an interesting story! I wanted to buy it from Jamie Taylor at Pfaff, but the difference between U.S. pricing and the price at Pfaff was too big. Soo, one day on E-bay (yes E-bay), I found a 911 with almost everything I wanted and it only had 2,600miles or just under 4200km! The car was in Mariette, Georgia so it had obviously never seen salt or winter and it still had plastic on the Air Box, parts of the dash etc.
Soo out of *interest* I call up the dealer in Georgia--Select Luxury Autos (www.selectluxury.com). I talked to a sales lady named Inanya and she answered my questions. So for the next 4days my son and I watched Ebay like hawks. Then on November 13th with 5minutes left we placed a bid, and another, and another--crap-we still hadn't met the reserve price! With 2min left I ran to find the freakin cordless phone that always disappears. I dialed their number and talked to Inanya-"What do I have to bid!!??". She calmly says, "I can't tell you that."--meanwhile we're down to less than a minute and a half. So I say "What if I offer you $x and I can click buy it now to end the auction?". She says let me ask my boss....1 minute left, she says okay that's fine go ahead! My son and I were shaking! So I stayed on the phone, gave them my CC number for a deposit and then we did the rest of the transaction.
Shipping the car in an enclosed transport from Georgia was around $1500, so not too bad and then I had to pay tax, duty etc. But the BIGGEST hassle of all was trying to get the car registered to get plates! So I took it to Pfaff and got them to safety it and switch the digital speedometer from mp/h to kmh/h....long story short-it took two days of driving around to get all the paperwork I needed. What a hassle.
Anyways, car gets here-I bought the complete Fabspeed exhaust, headers, catalytic converters, mufflers and tips. Clear corners, short shifter and 23mm wheel spacers.
I quickly took some pictures today after a drive down to Toronto & back.

great story! Yes the price difference between the US and Canada is substantial. When you come out to our Saturday GTGs you'll find that you are not alone in choosing a US car...there are many many many of us!
Enjoy your new p-car over the holidays. All the best.

Hey thanks guys for the warm welcome! Yeah apparently Pfaff lost around 650 sales this year to the U.S.
As for the meets, I might not make it out for awhile as I'm tied up with business, plus I just got the car and if it snows I don't think I'll be out to Spring
But come Spring, you bet I'll be there every Saturday! Plus we'll have to have some cruises up in Caledon

I believe porsche canada lost around 650 sales all year not pfaff. From memory sales in canada are about 1800 cars. pfaff does not sell 1/3 of them. welcome to the club. if you have no experience and want to participate in de I suggest Jan 1 you sign up for the skid pad on the pca-ucr site as it books up. I also got my car from US. you will love the track in your car. might as well start shopping for a helmet...check the pca ucr site for requirements.

Ahhh right, I misunderstood him then. What's the Skid Pad event like? I'll go check out pca-ucr now and see what's up! I'll have to start looking for a helmet too. Thanks!
Enjoy the dry weather
EDIT: How do I sign up for events, register etc? I see the schedule but....

skid pad teaches you what to do when your car loses control on the track...also braking techniques and steering with throttle as well as other skills useful when on track, pca-ucr makes you do this (it is worthwhile even if not doing de) before DE. it usually fills up early so book early. also read the requirements for helmet (snell 05 or newer, and some regions don't allow motorcyle helmets) also you will need a fire extinguisher mounted before de...mantis has one for a good price. again you will love the track if you don't mind some speed...also in my opinion pca is the safest best way to learn the track, at a reasonable cost.

do not go to PCA skid pad it is BS. they make you disconnect your ABS and 90 percent of people flat spot their tires. i attended one and it was useless. oh yeah except the part where the PCA instructor taunted people to kill him at the wet teflon braking excercise. a boxster ran him right over about 5 minutes later. PCA is crap. oh and about that fire extinguisher...do they expect you to stop on the track and put out a burning car? bunch of geniuses!!

c'mon .. tell us what you REALLY think ... actually I was thinking of signing up for skid pad myself, But I do rather like my brand new soft compound tires ... and would like to keep them round a little longer ...
