If the insurance company already paid off the owner then the recovered vehicle will belong to the insurance co. They send the car through the salvaged/wrecked vehicle aution sytem (dealers only autcion) and sold to the highest bidder.

The vehicles are seized and impounded by a bailiff at the behest of Police. It sits and if its a really nice car it gets stored in a heated warehouse. If ownership can be established it A. may be returned to the owner, but more likely B. as stated ot goes to auction.

If the insurance company has paid the owner of the vehicle they will take possession of the salvaged vehicle once the investigation is completed. They will then dispose of the car often through recognized salvors, etc. The insurance co. will have to pay for any salvage or storage costs against the vehicle.
