Default Ordering stuff from the US?

Any advice would be welcome:

I'm new to the Porsche clan. Twice now I've tried to order things from vendors in the US, at least one of them a board sponsor. Both times, the items were shipped USPS. The first time, it took two months and when it finally arrived, the envelope had been torn and the part was gone. (That vendor resent the item UPS at no charge, and I got it in a few days). This time, buying from a board sponsor, it's already been weeks and no sign of the item. The vendor simply provided proof that he'd mailed it, but that's where the help ended. USPS doesn't even acknowledge the tracking number.

So how do you fellow Canucks do it? I find this intolerable, but there are companies down there that sell stuff I want! What's the trick?

Thanks in advance.

Bruce.

I've ordered from a few different US vendors and the parts usually arrive within 2 weeks via USPS (to Toronto). Some companies offer USPS with a tracking number which gives you a very general idea of where the package is. I find that on the items that I've ordered, the prices are better and parts are in stock.
Remember that parcels sent via USPS don't get the UPS tax, only a $5 handling fee.

where are you located ? it may make a difference on the advice...

Ps I find that if they send it USPS regular it takes longer but usually shows up in the mail . if they send it with a tracking number you have to go pick it up and have to pay fees, usually taxes and a service charge.
